  Summary of this Book...

This book is intended for adults or adult supervision only because the level of the material requires some maturity and life experience, but the material has no mature allusions, content or graphic scenes. I mean, it's a book for writers to use to learn to become better writers, so I think most seven year olds would find it boring.

That said, it's an awesome book that is really helping me clarify my thinking and organize my writing into doable steps. What I love most about Morrell's approach is the conversations he teaches me to have with myself, so that my plan for a big story doesn't devolve into a dry, boring plot outline. Morrell's methods keep me interested and hooked on the development of a big project - that's really important for work that is hard to do and realistically might not pay off. Also, by keeping my own interest level high, some of my enthusiasm might pass on to my reader. I think Morrell's approach is excellent, clear, easy to use and has immediately obvious benefits.

This type of Book is good for...

writers who want to improve their writing techniques.

  I especially liked...

the narrative style of this book. It is engaging and thought-provoking on its first read, and it's organized well to serve as a good reference book after the first read is complete.

  I didn't like...

There's nothing I didn't like.

When I finished reading this Book I wanted to...

Before I finished reading this book I wanted to start using Morrell's ideas and methods to improve my own writing, my own thinking about how to construct captivating stories and my own review techniques.

  This Book made me feel...

that I really don't need to go to university to learn to be a creative writer, because with sources on the internet, my supportive community in writing.com and this book, I can learn what I need to learn.

  The author of this Book...

David Morrell - author of First Blood, Testament, Last Reveille, The Totem, Blood Oath, and about 12 other novels.

  I recommend this Book because...

it shines more light into the mysterious hours and ways of writing than any other book I've read about the craft of storytelling.
