Summary of this Book...
The final book in the first Duncton Trilogy (see seperate reviews of Duncton Wood and Duncton Quest). The Stone Mole (the Duncton equivalent of Jesus) has come. This book is his story, from birth to immortality in the hearts of others. Yet, as is always the way with Horwood, it is so much more. Subplots and relationships abound, as the loose ends from the previous two novels are tied up (but with enough left over for the next three!). After my effusive praise for its predecessors, you will be surprised to know I find this the weakest of the three. But that doesn't mean it still isn't a fantastic read.
This type of Book is good for...
Any adult (although too violent for the young).
I especially liked... | ||
As usual, the amazing attention to detail and characterisation.
When I finished reading this Book I wanted to...
Read the next Duncton trilogy, of course!
This Book made me feel...
Happy, sad, hopeful, uplifted... too many emotions to describe run through its pages.
The author of this Book...
Is William Horwood, author of the first Ducton series - Duncton Wood, Duncton Quest and Duncton Found, and the second series of Duncton Tales, Duncton Rising and Duncton Stone. His other books include the Willows In Winter series, two books of The Wolves Of Time, The Stonor Eagles, Callanish and Skallagrigg.
I recommend this Book because...
It is the final summing up of an amazing trilogy, rich in detail and characterisation.
