  Summary of this Book...

This book is the second of three covering the so-called "CinemaScope Revolution" of the mid-1950s when the world's cinema screens became larger and wider. The leader in this worldwide innovation was the Hollywood studio, 20th Century Fox.

  This type of Book is good for...

all fans of classic and vintage Hollywood films.

  I especially liked...

the detailed coverage given to each movie, with full cast and camera credits, release information, and interesting background details. I also liked the many brief extracts from contemporary reviews.

  I didn't like...

the fact that the illustrations were all in black-and-white, although they were printed one or two to a page, not squeezed down to a postage stamp size.

  When I finished reading this Book I wanted to...

buy some of these movies in their original CinemaScope format on DVD.

  The author of this Book...

obviously appreciates every movie he reviews and describes. He even has some good things to say about movies that he found disappointing.

  I recommend this Book because...

it not only has nostalgia appeal, but present relevance as many of these movies are now available on DVD.
