  Summary of this Book...

Colbert lampoons the concept of traditional American values in this giggle-inducing book. The book is very easy to read (including footnotes in red) and contained hilarious, hyperbolic language.  The book is divided up into four primary sections based on life stages (childhood, adolesence and adulthood) with bonus sections on how to properly retire the book (among other things). Topics from sports and religion to dating and careers are spoofed in Colbert's tome. You see both reflections of American ideals and some degree of mockery of these ideals, particularly their somewhat repressive nature.

This type of Book is good for...

A relaxing read that doesn't require too much thought. I also strongly recommend a healthy sense of humor, complete with the abiolity to not take things too seriously.

  I especially liked...

His comments about being able to lift the city of St. Paul, MN as part of the World's Strongest Man competition.

When I finished reading this Book I wanted to...

Read Naked Pictures of Famous People.

  The author of this Book...

Colbert hosts Comedy Central's wildly popular "The Colbert Report". I don't think I need to say much more. Most of you who are reading this probably already know a fair amount about him.

  I recommend this Book because...

Even on the surface it's very funny. Beneath the surface, it says a lot about society without getting overly preachy. It might make you think, but it won't make you think too hard.

  Further Comments...

Though I rate the book 18+, I'd actually recommend the book to those 15 and over. I just don't think most 13 and 14 year olds would really appreciate its qualities. However, if you think a 13 year old would enough about these topics, I say let the kid read it!
