This book has received some excellent reviews which are quite understandable considering its excellent coverage of western movie highlights and lowlights, plus its wonderful reproductions of original movie posters (in black-and-white, alas, but considering this hefty, 272-pages, large format book retails for an amazingly low $14, color is obviously out of the question).

the index of all Charles Starrett's 166 movies. Starrett is one my favorites, but even if you're not a fan, the index takes up only 30 pages of the book's 272. Surely you won't begrudge that much space for a western hero that I would rank as one of the best, although admittedly not equal to Gene Autry, Roy Rogers and William Boyd.

that although all the "Zorro" movies are listed (there's at least three times as many as I expected), only "The Mark of Zorro" itself is given the author's "full treatment" of detailed cast and credits, release and background information, and expert reviews. It would have been helpful to have some details on the others as well.

buy DVD versions of many of the author's recommendations.
