  Summary of this Book...

Sixteen-year-old Raven is the only Goth girl in town and dreams of being a vampire. Much to her delight, a strange family moves into the abandoned mansion on the hill. Rumours start flying about the newcomers being vampires and Raven is determined to find out the truth.

This type of Book is good for...

People who like to be entertained by a good story would enjoy this book.

  I especially liked...

Raven wasn't afraid to be herself and she seemed to be a strong young woman.

  I didn't like...

I wasn't too keen on how stereotypical the goth scene was portrayed. I also didn't like how thin the plot was. I felt it was like something I'd come across before. Also, the complete lack of visual imagery was quite annoying. The author only HINTED at a few things and that was how Raven (or other characters) dressed. Please. Give me more than that.

When I finished reading this Book I wanted to...

Strangely, I found myself wanting to read the next book in the series. While not told in dazzling literary form, this story was quite entertaining.

  This Book made me feel...

I liked that Raven wasn't a typical teenage girl who was shy about expressing herself. Gotta give the author props for that.

  The author of this Book...

Perhaps it has been too long since the author has actually been around real teenagers. Or she's forgotten how people talk (the dialogue was jerky and disconnected at times). Maybe Ms. Schreiber could use a good people-watching session (or two, or more!).

  I recommend this Book because...

I'd recommend this book to anyone who enjoys a good teen vampire tale.

I don't recommend this Book because...

If you're turned off by awkward dialogue, lack of imagery, and shallow plots, then I really don't recommend this tale for you.

  Further Comments...

All in all, I thought this was a pretty good read. While it's never going to be my favourite, I did enjoy the book.
