Summary of this Book...
This is the story of the causes of the 2008 collapse of the financial system.
This type of Book is good for...
understanding how the subprime mortgage market spiraled out of control, bringing economies all over the world to an unmitigated disaster.
I especially liked... | ||
the way the book is written - it is fast paced and reads like an adventure novel. David Faber writes the way he reports - with even-handed clarityand fairness.
I didn't like... | ||
the unrestrained and unregulated greed that sprang from the worst in all of us.
When I finished reading this Book I wanted to...
cry. | ||
This Book made me feel...
differently about Alan Greenspan. I was surprised.
The author of this Book...
sure knows how to tell a story. I read it in two days.
I recommend this Book because...
if you have any interest in what went wrong with our economy and in knowing how much trouble we are still facing, this is a must-read.
Further Comments... | ||
I bought the book because I was interested in the story of the mortgage meltdown. I figured it might be a bit dry. I was surprised that it was such a gripping and interesting read. Sheila Baird is one of the few heroes who tried to prevent the meltdown BEFORE it happened. I didn't realize that. This book reinforced my belief that most politicians of both parties are pretty useless.
