Summary of this ... | ||
The book simply lists 14 "super foods" and their properties.
This type of is good for...
people interested in nutrition.
I especially liked... | ||
I liked how the author listed the vitamins and nutrients in each food and ways to prepare them.
I didn't like... | ||
how the author claimed that the foods have "super powers" and can heal and prevent disease.
I don't recommend this because...
The book doesn't offer any information most people already know - that foods like broccoli, beans, cabbage, berries, etc., are good for you. It also made claims that weren't backed up by citation of research and medical studies.
Further Comments... | ||
It's good to eat more of the foods listed in the book, but it should be noted that many should consult a doctor first. The author also claims that eating these foods can reverse cancer, heart disease and diabetes. I worry that this claim will convince people to stop taking medications or treatments given to them by their medical professional. It's one thing to say that eating well can help prevent colds, but it's another to say that these foods kill cancer cells or can replace chemotherapy!
