Because I can't seem how to figure out how to change the blog tab to my current blog (and this one is rather old, mind you), if you are interested in reading my most recent journal/blog/whatever, please visit "Blog of a Momerath -Blog #3" .
I can be whoever I want to,
Anyone at all
I can strut, when I wanna strut,
Or hide behind a parasol
It all depends on the mood I'm wearin'
It all depends on the mood I'm in
I can be beautiful or truly outrageous
It all depends on the mood I'm in
Off I go in search of adventure
Anytime I choose
I wear heels, if that's how it feels
Or else I wear my blue suede shoes
It all depends on the mood I'm wearin'
It all depends on the mood I'm in
I can be beautiful or truly outrageous
It all depends on the mood I'm in-------Jem and the Holograms

It is snowing! OMG!!!
The first snow of the year, for us Arkansans. And it's really comin' down, covering everything! For once, the ground has been basically frozen all day, allowing the snow to stick.
Perhaps we'll have a real winter after all.
*glances over at the TV* I'm watching American Idol right now too. First time this season I've seen it. Most of the contestants are horrible. But there's been a few that have really nice voices. I'd never try out 'cause besides being too old, I can't sing very good. That doesn't mean I don't LIKE singing though.
I like to sing a lot. Just ask my kids. I drive them crazy sometimes. *cheesy grin* And because I have a huge mental jukebox, there's a wide variety of things I'll belt out at any given moment (but only at home or in the car, never in public, mind you!).
Anyway.....
*is distracted by a particularly horrible contestant*
*shudders*
Ooooh....she's dreadful.
Well, I suppose I need to mosey on and start reading the influx of newsletters I got today. And do some reviewing.
And did you know? It's SNOWING!!!11!!1!!!eleven!!!!1!!

Triscuits are tasty. Yes, they are. I've been munching on them all afternoon. And my baggie is nearly empty. Pooh. *eyes last Triscuit*
I'm trying to eat healthier. Cutting down on the sweets. Wean myself off sodas again (I've regressed into having two or three a day).
*sighs*
This isn't easy. I'm a certified junkfood junkie. But the last time I went grocery shopping, I stocked up on fresh fruit and other healthy food. I'm not going to make the family quit cold turkey. We're going to ease out of it gently.
The occasional sweet is no problem. Just not to the point to where that's all my kids and I will eat. You know, there's some folks who haven't eaten a fresh piece of produce in years?? Insane.
Maybe it's cause I'm getting older that I'm starting to think more about what I eat and how it affects my body. I want to pace myself though. Do this on my own time where I'm comfortable with it.
Now if only I could find some sort of exercise that appeals to me.....besides chasing the kids around the house!

Last night, my daughter wanted to attend a function the school was putting on for a PTA benefit. It was a pajama party theme. They were selling snacks (popcorn and drinks, etc.) to raise money for the PTA. And then they were going to show a movie to keep the kids entertained. This all sounded like a nice idea, so I agreed to go.
Well, first off, when we arrived, the cafeteria was a scene of barely contained chaos. Seems the parents that brought their kids felt it was okay to let them run around like little wild hooligans. No discipline. Some children and their parents were sitting quietly watching all the other kids run around, screaming and yelling. I was frustrated that people would let their kids behave this way. Tempted to just turn around and walk out of there, I had to control my urges.
We picked out a spot of floor, and lay Charlie's Tinkerbell blanket down. An island in a sea of insanity. After procurring snacks, we waited to watch the movie. The kids said "hi" to their various friends and acquaintances.
All the while, other people's kids were still playing tag, screaming, talking loudly, and generally being out of control.
Finally, the PTA lady got on the mike and informed the kids to settle down and behave. Unfortunately, this didn't seem to shame their parents into action. They continued to be blase about their offspring.
Grrrr......
And then the movie started.
It was "Barnyard".
If you've never seen this movie, consider yourself fortunate. It's completely wretched. Besides being poorly written by a troop of ignorant writers, being full of country stereotypes, and purple coyotes, this movie had one ongoing mistake that really bugged me.
Male bovines with udders.
That's like having a CGI movie with male humans sporting oversized busts. Boobs I tell ya! Guys with boobaleees!
It's soooo wrong!!!!
*sighs*
But I endured this assault on my intelligence. However, I was able to convince Charlie that we needed to leave before the movie was over.
I can only sit so long on a hard tile floor of a school cafeteria.
And no, I will NEVER own a copy of "Barnyard". Never.
I'd rather put myself through a million PTA meetings before I'd do that!

Hello and welcome to the five minute blog entry. Why? I've got five minutes before I'm leaving work. Ha.
*takes a deep breath*
This week was too freaking long. And....*stops* Uh-oh. I'm whining, aren't I? Need to quit that.
Okay, random subject then.
Ummm......
How about bookshelves?
Yeah, that sounds good.
My dad is going to make me another set of tall bookshelves because I desperately need them. The ones he made a year ago are overfull. And I've got unsightly piles of homeless books on the floor. Bad Amy. I've got to give them better places to sit. Like in the comforting arms of a nice, tall bookshelf. Yes, I have a lot of tidying up to do. I won't even divulge the amount of NewType magazines I have that need putting away properly (they're part of my anime obsession).
What can I say? I'm a bibliophile. And a shameless one at that.
*glances over at clock*
Time to foxtrot. Have a most groovilicious weekend, y'all!

We had another invasion from the Planet Stupid today. This guy was so whack, I wound up calling security on him. They escorted him out of the clinic. He was wanting pain meds and he wasn't going to get them from us. Why? He'd tested positive on a drug test. You don't get pain meds if you're stoned outta your gourd.
He was yelling and screaming and swearing a blue streak. Like a one-man Jerry Springer show. And that's not the first time he's pulled that crap in our clinic.
*sighs* I hate it when he comes in.
At least if I stand on my tippy toes, I can see the weekend from here. It's a payday weekend too.
I've got new pics up on my deviantArt account of the dolls I've been working on. And I'm too lazy/tired to put up the link in this entry. But if you're curious, just follow the link from my bioblock in my portfolio. It'll take ya there.

I was not feeling good yesterday, so I stayed home from work. Been really tired and just...blah lately. Might be my thyroid acting up again, I haven't gotten a chance to see my latest lab results on it yet.
Started working on that doll Monday night. So far I've gotten her hair done and painted her skin tone. Now I've got to begin on her face. She's going to be the Mother Aspect of the Triple Goddess (there's Maiden, Mother, and Crone).
Didn't really do much yesterday. Just took it easy, sketching and inking a little in my sketchbook. That's probably what I'll do tonight......
*yawns*
Wish I could take a nap.

I'm nearly done with my first fairy doll. Worked on her almost all day yesterday. She's made from a pre-made doll form (known as a Bendi Doll). I've customized her with eyelash/chunky yarn hair, paper twist wings, and a lace and fabric dress. The fun part was painting on her stripey stockings. They came out really cool (purple and daaaark green/black). She's currently posing on the entertainment center in my living room. At least, until I finish her.
Today, whilst working, I've been pondering ideas for other dolls. See, I have a package of wooden spoons that are just begging to be made into something.....and dolls are a natural choice for me. Maybe something kinda primitive, like prayer dolls. That would be most groovy. And I can use natural materials to decorate them..... Hmm....
Thank goodness it's nearly time to go home. Usually when I get to the afternoon part of a Monday, I'm all tuckered out and ready for a nap. And today, I just want to create! I bet I can even get my kids involved.

Who knew that mediaevel-styled instruments could sound so awesome? I'm really starting to get into Corvus Corax. I bought their CD last Monday and have been playing it over and over again ever since. Lots of bagpipes and drums (and other instruments). Nice hypnotic beat. I'm a sucker for a great rhythm.
*gets up and dances spontaneously*
*sits back down to blog some more*
I love to dance. Just not in public (i.e. clubs or places like that). Too embarassed to show off my moves (and lack thereof, hehehe). But in the privacy of my own home, me and the kids will boogie on down.
One of these days it might be fun to take lessons. To learn how to dance properly. When I was nine, my mother let me take ballet/tap/jazz at the local community center. I had so much fun but I didn't get to continue the next year. It was just too expensive.
I realize I need to go through my port and do some cleaning up. Get rid of stuff that's not been reviewed in a year or longer. Add some new things to generate interest. And put up some new artwork (while getting rid of some of the old).
*shimmies across the living room*
Wheeeee!!! This CD rocks!!

I did it! My ears are now sporting two holes each! *does happy dance* Got it done yesterday. And this time, it seemed to pinch more than the first time. Or maybe I've just forgotten.
But anyway.
I got a lovely pink and white candy-striped bathrobe and fuzzy pink bedroom slippers for my birthday yesterday. Which is exactly what I needed, now that we're using space heaters to heat the house (our central air needs replaced and is much too expensive to fix). So it's chilly in our house a lot. Reminds me of how I grew up.
We didn't have central heat OR air when I was a kid. We managed to survive the muggy Arkansas summers with only two or three oscillating fans and a box fan in the window. And in the winter we'd rely on the woodstove or the wall heaters (ours was an older house).
With the condition of our heating/cooling unit, it's like a step back in time for me. I didn't realize how spoiled I'd become until it went out! But we manage. There's worse things that could happen. This is minor.
Oh, it's finally time to depart this house of madness (it was much too busy today!).

The kids got bored yesterday and moved the furniture around in the living room. It's better, actually. There's more room now. Weird.
Found 16 golf balls between the big couch and the wall. I believe my little dachsund is responsible for them. Frankie loves to play catch and she'll hide her toys from us. And if we get her a plastic squeaky chew toy, she'll have destroyed most of it the same day!
Tomorrow I am off again. My birthday. I'll be 33. *sighs* So, to celebrate, I'm going to get two more holes put in my head. I want to get my ears pierced with a second hole.
I still want a tattoo. I know I've mentioned wanting to get one over a year ago and I haven't done it yet. Perhaps a pair of wings on my back is a bit ambitious for a first tat. Maybe something more simple, like on my upper shoulder, back of my neck area would be ideal for my first ink. Gotta think more about what kind of design I'd like.......
But anyway. It's a school night and I still must get up early with the children. G'night y'all!
