God on speed dial. I like that. You hit the nail on the head with that. I see many preachers acting the same way, and then they wonder why we aren't on the same page as they are. Why we aren't reaping the same benefits. My question would be how are the benefits reaped? Is their walk as strong as they contend or do they manipulate the power of God to their benefit?

One thing I have noticed in my walk is that no matter how hard you try, you cannot manipulate God to get what you want. So then either their walk is genuine and the benefits they receive are genuine, or they are a fake and the benefits they reap are not from God but from the enemy. We need to be very careful who we listen to and trust. If what they preach doesn't line up with the Word of God, it isn't the Word of God.

One of the things about news is that it generally has both good and not-so-good parts. I somehow see Dad in these moments. He had the "Good News" for the world. It just cost Him, for a time, His only begotten Son.

Being a military veteran, and a military brat, I know all to well the anxiety and sadness of separation. I don't think it is ever anything we get used to or get over. But, as I grew, I did learn to cherish those "coming home" moments. Even today, I cherish those times when I can come home to Dad, and just BE with him without the distractions caused by the tyranny of the urgent. It's great to have human arms to hold you, for sure. But, when the distance is longer than our arms can reach, it is good to know that there is no distance which our hearts cannot reach.

That's how it is with our Dad, too. He's large enough to rule the universe, but small enough to live in our hearts. That makes me feel safe no matter what. :)

I agree Lani, troubled is a mild word for what I expect she felt at that moment. I don't know about not being afraid. I would be, but after the initial shock and the fact I was still alive, then the troubled spirit would come in. I would be listening with half my mind while searching the other half for what I did that could have caused an angel to come see me from heaven, though if I'm really paying attention, I would have had the answer right away. My problem would be that I would have had to ask him to repeat himself until it all sunk in.

Oh yes, and did you see that tree? It's shape was so beautiful, lovely form and wonderful shade. I just had to stop and rest under it for just a little while.

Keeping my eye out for you on the road.

I don't know whether you are just a few pounds over what you desire to be or many pounds over, but sometimes when I gaze at someone who is extremely obese I wonder what motivates them. Although really it could be as simple as just that the food is available.

Ancient meat eaters did NOT have to develop any controls over their eating because food was hard to find and when you killed an animal it had to all be eaten quickly before it spoiled.

Ancient grain eaters DID have to develop controls over their eating because once the grain was harvested it had to last until the next growing season so you couldn't just eat it all up at once.

So maybe it boils down to whether you come from a long line of meat eaters or a long line of corn and wheat eaters.

And I memorized these six words: no fat, no salt, no sugar

Don't make the mistake of thinking you can keep eating salt and still lose weight. And fat and sugar should be obvious.

I love cheese and milk and there are no-fat versions of both available.

The rest is vegetables and fruits and very small meat portions, but lots of fish. :_)
