Much luck to you! I read a bit of your other blog (I stumbled across it searching WDC for a short read as I'm pressed for time today!) I went though a similar bad time, beginning around age 50--for no apparent reason. Of course, the realization we are not going to accomplish every goal is depressing, but for me it was a childhood of being raised (by wonderful, well-meaning parents) to be a good girl, always, and to WORRY, and feel guilty about everything. Negative thinking is what gets us into these angst-ridden fazes. Writing helps and with your efforts to solve your health problems, you are no doubt heading for a brighter future. Amsterdam looks so beautiful.

I need to lose 10 kilos... hopefully by walking more and eating rice and beans and fruits and less bread and milk products, cutting out meat almost entirely. The winters in Montana are difficult for losing weight, but I'm in Costa Rica for three months and that should help. No fried chicken for me!

I'll have to be careful about the weakness though...

Hopefully you'll be taking those walks in the country come Spring... if not already.

They should have a version of Tosca soon unless they just showed it. Saw Tosca on a bigscreen broadcast from the Met at a local theatre in Montana.

I'm in Costa Rica, so I won't be seeing opera. Latin American soap operas, yes.

Costa Rica should be wonderful, though it is also the place where puravida seems to have disappeared, she was having a finca there.

Ah...no more Amsterdam for us, but London happens to be even closer to England...

It's getting to the end of March ...no Spring here... Should've stayed in Costa Rica! Which when I see Pura Vida ...reminds me. I'll probably go back to CR around June/July. Friends still want me to visit England... Amsterdam is close!

I get stuck in that moving from entertainment to entertainment rut sometimes - usually when real life is too stressfull or unhappy or boring. I would be in it more now if my daughter were not keeping me busy. This next week we have nowhere to be, so I imagine that I'll be likely to go into my entertainment rut. I have little money to be in a nice shopping rut or travel rut!
London ... nice to visit, but wouldn't want to live there! That's how I feel about it. Come visit me in Yorkshire and smell the sweet country air (sweet meaning smelling of cow poo half the time). Teenagers welcome!

Wow!! Londoners aren't known for their friendliness, either, but the people sound pretty grumpy where you are from. You'd be blown away by the people farther north, then. You'll have to get out and explore once you are settled in!

Didn't have time to watch the Londoners much yet, so can't tell about smiles, but at least they're really very friendly and that is so much different from where we lived in Holland: almost no one there takes the trouble to thank you when you give way in traffic, as if you're "air" to them. But in London, also equipped with many narrow one-car-at-a-time-streets, people wave their thanks to you demonstratively. Or call an office: it's "how can I help you", "have a nice day", "bye bye", as if they know you personally.
The lack of friendliness and care in our old city frustrated me much, so to live in London feels much better in this respect (she thought, smiling happily )

so people smile a lot in London?
