Jaguaress has made it their job to go around contest forums and to post publicly in the forums when the host doesn't behave the way they think is appropriate. Hum, I didn't know that posting defaming messages in a person's forums was particularly good manners, but that's for Jag to know. My forum isn't the only one they have done this in, and it's probably not going to be the last. *shrug*

In the meantime, this helped me out some. After enduring the third unannounced and inflammatory comment posted in my "14 Days, 7 Prompts, 1 Story Contest, I have now removed Jaguaress from the contest. One less story to read. Maybe I'll get this done faster now. *Laugh*

I wonder what kind of jokes that could lead to. *Laugh*

Today, SoCalScribe and I had coffee and some good conversation. In a bookstore. And there was even a book involved.

It was such a treat for me to have a real life conversation with him. I've admired SoCal as a writer, respected him as fearless leader of the "Unofficial Erotica Newsletter Group, and counted him among my better online friends for a while. Hanging out for three and a half hours and just learning about the things that make another author tick was super for me. I have already started reading The Professor and the Mad Man and find it an absolutely gripping and tragic history to the Oxford English Dictionary. I don't think it will take me very long to read the book.

Just as mentioned in his blog post "WDC Meets Real Life, it would be really neat to have a West Coast Mixer.

7.  New Laptop ~ Chapter twoID #696779
Posted: 5-20-2010 @ 3:08 pm EDT

Hum, so that laptop I bought on Friday died this morning. Frown

Instead of using my morning to work, I drove to Best Buy and had them take a look at it. Since it was less than 14 days in my possession, they gave me a new one, no problems. I have a good feeling about this one thought. The first one was showing early warning signs like freezing over a couple of times on Monday already. When I set up the new one today, it worked like a charm. I am expecting this to stay this way. The model I got has generally good reviews and most users gave it 4.5 and 5 stars. So, I want to be able to say that too in a few weeks.

OK, I don't work for Best Buy, and I don't endorse anybody, but I have to say the service I got was excellent. The guy ran a quick diagnostic, realized this was a deeper problem, and simply gave me a new one. Can't beat that. Smile

6.  Ah, the silly things I waste my time withID #696736
Posted: 5-19-2010 @ 10:17 pm EDT

Yes, yes, I know. I should be working, doing something productive. I can't help it when my mind only comes up with silly stuff. On Monday I had to drive to downtown Los Angeles. Did you know that I hate Los Angeles? If you didn't know, you know now. Anyways, on my way back out of hell I could see the traffic going north on the 110 freeway getting seriously backed up. I wondered, what on all earth possesses people to want to live or work in downtown Los Angeles. Are they all not like me? Obviously not.

A quote from the movie Jackie Brown came to mind, and I reworded it to show off my disdain and how little I think of the hordes that put up with 20 hours of rush hour a day to live in Los Angeles. Check out my new forum and participate.

5.  New laptopID #696536

Today, I unpacked my new laptop which I bought on Friday. It's nothing special. As a matter of fact, it was the second cheapest the store had. But, having a laptop will greatly enhance my writing. I don't know about you, but I like to write creatively with my laptop on my lap, propped up in bed with a pillow in my back. I can work just fine on the desktop for scientific research, and to type up technical texts. Writing erotica on a hard wooden chair? Uh, not so much. And, rather than buy a comfortable computer chair, I'd rather had a new laptop. Bigsmile

So, I hope this will supercharge my creative writing.

4.  My to-do list is called MedusaID #696213
Posted: 5-15-2010 @ 3:02 am EDT

It seems every time I get to cross off an item at the top of the list as done, two new things show up at the bottom.

Today, I got one job tackled pretty good, thought I might be able to finish it over the weekend. There is a second job I need to take care of before Monday. And a customer who was among the first to ask me to write up product reviews for him got back to me today for more work.

I finally finished reviewing the April entries for Short Shots. Phew. I also achieved to complete my HSP assignment yesterday. That's great. And unusual, for me to have work done days before the deadline.

Now, all that's left to do is...

"14 Days, 7 Prompts, 1 Story Contest get all the reviews done by May 25th, if possible
"Fantasy & Erotica Short Story Contest is over on the 25th, needs reviews
15 in 15 starts on June 3rd, and I want to compete
"UENG Spring Fling has a June 20th deadline, but I really need to start working on that

And, outside of WdC
*Bullet* Brett's articles
*Bullet* Gabe's Harry Potter fanfiction
*Bullet* Steven's blog post job
*Bullet* Anthony's bookshop job
*Bullet* Marcus' autoresponder reviews
*Bullet* if she sends me work, watching YouTube videos for Debbie ...

Medusa ... for each head you chop off, two more grow ... as I said

Breaking down the elements of writing successful Erotica
by Purple
I have tried to catch up here, and it's slowly coming together. The now infamous "14 Days, 7 Prompts, 1 Story Contest has gotten two of the stories reviewed. "Fantasy & Erotica Short Story Contest is good to go until May 25th. I do have to give my two cents to the entries into Short Shots from April. That should be fun. When I saw the prompt picture, a man in a sombrero, I knew there was no way that I could write anything to that. It'll be cool to see what the most talented writers on this site have come up with for that hat man picture.

Today, in my freelancer life, I got paid to watch videos on YouTube and comment on them. *Laugh* Sounds pathetic? It is. But it's kind of fun too. I am being steered into directions of things to watch that I would never even think of opening myself. Some of the stuff is boring and I navigate away from it before it's over. I even get paid for saying that it is boring and I didn't watch it until the end. Crazy world out there.

Today, with the weather so nice and the jacuzzi fixed, I ended up in the hot bubbles and the pool for an hour. I can always use the excuse that I had to take my kids out. Well, I did. Have to take them out. Then, I also had fun chatting away a whole hour with the building manager. She is such a nice woman, I wish all building managers were like her. Nobody would buy homes. She gave my kids an aquarium a few weeks ago. For Christmas, she bought us a Christmas tree. And she always has chocolate. How can you not love somebody who gives you chocolate every day?

I really need to get some more time on my clock before the week turns over. What's kind of cool, but also has its drawbacks is that my workweek is bound to GMT (Greenwich Mean Time). That means on Sunday my ability to log hours for a job ends at four or five in the afternoon my time. It is kind of cool though that I get paid early also in return.

2.  Wrote some articles this morning.ID #695487
Posted: 5-7-2010 @ 4:07 pm EDT

Today, I wrote articles about car title lending and about using Twitter as a tool to build your brand online, and how to promote your business using Twitter. I also posted a news item on a New Zealand book selling site. I've got administrator access. Bigsmile It's really cool to work as a freelancer, I get to have many different reasons to write and get paid for it. Now that I have built a portfolio of happy customers, I have people quiery me for writing work. I am not yet at the pay level that I want to ultimately get to, but it's like everything. I'm waiting for a milestone in paid hours and positive ratings to raise my rate. I've already been able to raise it once. Pretty good.

I feel so blue. Blue all over the place. I was promoted to WDC Moderator tonight! What an honor. *Bigsmile*
