Courtesy of being able to embed youtube videos (very very cool!), here's my very favorite live song ever!

(I shot this video myself around Halloween 2007) The song is "Man From Outer Space" by The Drama Club (http://www.myspace.com/thedramaclub). (The band dressed as characters from the film, Carrie - though most were out of costume by this point - which is why one of the members is in a white suit...

The quality isn't perfect, but I think you can get a good idea of the song from this. I wish the band would play this one again. I really miss this song!

(Work was kind hellish today, so instead of focusing on that, I'm watching old videos of live bands) Smile

Oh, and feel free to watch our other videos: http://www.youtube.com/wordofmouthpa Most are a few years old, and a few even have over 10,000 views! (One of those is Carfax Abbey's version of "Cry Little Sister." Remember that song from Lost Boys? I looove that song, and I love Carfax Abbey's verison of it, too!)

I just wanted to try out the photo thing, too. Wink

My blog is changing again...

Some random things I read on my local newspaper's website this morning:

Body found near car wash

A quote from the police: "We think he might have fell off the bank and hit his head down here on a cement block. That's one theory."

Cruise week continues with ear-popping Generation X Sound Off

"The Generation X Sound Off & Car Show, Enders said, has become an effective way to draw teenagers and young adults to the cruise." (The article then focuses on teenagers who've put about $10k into their car stereoes)

...um, aren't Gen X'ers like 30 now? They're not exactly teens and young adults anymore. Anyway, it's nice to see my local area move past the 80s into the 90s... Pthb

I created a new group today! Nicole and I got talking about our experiences a little and we were both surprised to see no groups like this here.

If your life has been touched by anxiety in any way, consider sharing your experiences with others. I honestly believe talking to others who have similar experiences will help others through the bitter struggle.

211.  favorite browser?ID #659270
Posted: 7-15-2009 @ 8:12 pm EDT

So my new laptop finally arrived today, an HP G60t. I'm absolutely loving it so far!

I have a question for all of you: Which is your favorite browser?

(There's also a poll on it: "Invalid Item)

On my old computer, I had used MSN Explorer for a very long time. I was mostly happy with it (especially because a window popped up every time I got a new email), but I think the MSN messenger started causing me problems. Plus I found it annoying that I had to pay for it... I've decided to go with something else. I'm trying out Firefox right now, and I like it so far. I know I don't particularly like Internet Explorer.

Any suggestions or input?

It's been a whole month since I've written here. Truth be told, I've always considered myself more of a journaler than a blogger.

Work has kept me busy, as I've been getting more hours to cover people who are out on medical leave. I'm nearly full-time, which can be difficult and frustrating at a grocery store. I feel like I live there sometimes... Last week I learned how to do the cooking and kitchen stuff, and that was a fun break from being at the deli counter all the time.

I took my driving test on Saturday and failed. I have to practice parallel parking. I know how to do it, but I end up waaay to far away from the curb. It's just that I have a hubby telling me, "Don't get near the curb! This is a brand new car!"

I have a weird rash on my left hand, painful, tiny red blister-like things. Maybe poison ivy? I really don't know, but I'm trying hydrocortisone.

And I think that brings us up to date. *Bigsmile*

Oh, and then there's this coming up:

209.  gps to correct answer!ID #651169

Edited: 5-22-2009 @ 10:32 pm EDT

Help, readers! I'll give 10,000 gps to the person who gives me the correct title to this book.

I read it in grade school, and the plot goes like this: A boy is playing with some friends and one throws a lit firework in his direction. It explodes, and the boy loses his eyesight. He goes to a special school, gets a guide dog, and basically adjusts to his new life of blindness.

It was one of my favorite books, and I can't think of the title! Please help me! 10,000 gps goes to the person who gives me the correct answer!! *Bigsmile*

(If you don't want the gps, I can give the gps to someone else or I can donate them to a group you'd like.)

We bought a car on Saturday!! *Bigsmile*

(Well, technically we're still waiting to make sure everything goes through and all that. We're scheduled to go pick it up later this morning.) It's a brand new, red, 2009 Honda Fit, and I'm absolutely in looooove with this car!!

Here's a pic:

http://www.autosavant.com/wp-content/uploads/2008/08/2009-honda-fit-red.jpg

They've been making them in Japan for a long time, but they've only been available in the US since 2006. This is our first new car, and our last car (the newest we've owned) was an '89 Buick Regal, so this is a huge step up for us. We're so excited!

We've decided which CD we're going to listen to on the drive home today (it's our first car with a CD player, too!). We considered Yeah Yeah Yeahs' Fever to Tell, but I think we've decided upon The Aquabats' The Fury of the Aquabats!

Now we just have to come up with a name for our new car! *Bigsmile*

207.  I'll never understandID #643058
Posted: 3-31-2009 @ 6:53 am EDT

Ah, small town America... I saw this article on the local paper's website this morning:

http://tinyurl.com/d4lmnb

A scantily clad female pirate statue in front of a store in a nearby town is being protested by a Catholic pastor and his congregation.

*Rolleyes*

The article tells of a recent protest. The store owner claims the pastor cursed the statue, and the next day the owner was taken to the hospital for chest pains. (The pastor claims he blessed the statue)

Oh and by the way, this is the same town that hosts an annual St. Patrick's Day Parade. This protest occurred on March 22nd, the day after this year's parade, which focuses on alcohol. People from all over come to the town to gather on the sidewalks and drink. Yeungling beer (the brewery is in another nearby town) is highly lauded and is a sponsor of the parade. (I covered the parade a few times for another local paper)

So drinking's okay, but dear Lord, cover yourselves up! Speaking of the statue, the pastor said, “When I first saw, I reacted negatively to it because I thought it was something more likely to be seen in a house of ill-repute or out on ‘The Strip’ in Las Vegas.”

I'll never understand some things... Why are people ashamed of the human form? The statue isn't nude, according to the article, just scantily clad, which is probably worse in the eyes of some... Would the pastor protest a museum which features a nude statue created by an established artist? Where do they draw the line? Why is some nudity okay, but others not?

I was walking by the local movie theater last year when I heard a Mom complaining about the rating of a film. She said something like, "Language is fine, but if there's any nudity at all, I won't let my kids see it!" (Why is language okay, but not nudity? Why is language considered bad to some, too?)

I don't think sheltering kids from everything is okay... I mean, I don't think kids should be subjected to pornography or extreme language, but they should also be taught some things, too. I don't have kids, and I don't plan on having them, so I probably shouldn't even say anything on that subject...

But protesting a statue??? This article gave me a laugh. And made me roll my eyes...
