THANK YOU alfred booth, wanbli ska for the ribbon and continuous support!

(Formerly titled 2010: A New Odyssey...clearly it's too late for that.)

Lots to do before the Mayan calendar runs out. This blog will now become my bucket list. I've published before the year even starts. Next up, adopt a motherless duck and raise it to become a swan. Should be easy enough.

Reinventing myself from start to finish. I couldn't continue on the path I was on and needed a fresh start. This time around I want to put the focus on writing and the world outside of this community as it affects my life.

I realize now that I have been baring my chest a bit more, like I did when I was young and wanted approval from others. I do it now because I realize the fake me is so much more boring and unliberated than the real me. Time will tell if my open diary will be more appealing to readers.

1.  How To Donate Profits From EbookID #746711

I was approached by someone today soliciting money for our local YMCA program for underprivileged kids and it gave me an idea: How to donate profits from my book to charity.

I don't need the money. I do need the exposure as a writer. Though, the Y isn't the best place to find ebook readers of a particular genre like a collection of poetry that I have for consideration. So, what if I find other charities through my local library, school or bookstore that will allow me to pad my ebook sales while donating proceeds to worthy programs for the underprivileged?

I don't know if any writers around here have tried this, other than donating gift points to groups within this writing community. But, if anyone has done this, or has some ideas, I'm open to suggestions/input.

My first thoughts are to approach the library or the local Barnes & Noble for help/suggestions. How to proceed and what charities I find might come from figuring out this process.

My early inclinations were to help fund school programs in either literacy or to help volunteers become better educated in the Scripps Spelling Bee program, because from watching them at my son's regional spelling bee the other night, they clearly could use any and all assistance to make for a smoother and more satisfactory outcome.

I will chew on this awhile and see if I can come up with something. I definitely do not care if I make a penny from my book, as long as I can draw enough readers to encourage future writing projects or an effort to go into print publishing, if there is some good feedback.
