I don't have a muse, and never have. I'm afraid that if I did have one, she would be a small Chinese woman standing in the doorway, looking significantly at her watch every minute or so while I dug around in the sofa searching for enough loose change to pay for the chicken-fried rice. On the whole, I think I do better without her.

Well, these took seven months, and they have still only put up three of the five they accepted, so yes.

Looks good! I actually noticed your poems this morning when I was doing a cleanup of my items, getting my submissions records shuffled over to Duotrope. I was poking around at Strong Verse because they accepted one of my poems some time in early April, but I haven't heard anything from them since I sent them the info they requested. Does it always take them a long time between notifying the writer and actually putting the thing up?

I enjoy reading tweets, but probably need practice fitting what I'd want to say in one. It still looks like fun, so I've been following and thinking about how to respond. I wouldn't be surprised if tweets inspire some writing posts.

Lucia's Wish was a very cute, clever and, frankly, sweet introduction. We enter knowing much must happen so they can "all live happily ever after".

Absolutely. I went into more depth on my regular (non-WDC) blog, but with the increasing use of hosted sites (websites on Weebly or Facebook or Blogger or whatever), there is nobody left to turn off the lights. Such websites should have an expiration date, which would get reset with updated content, so that after 90 days (or whatever), the lights go off by themselves, or at least put up a notice that the site might be dormant.

And yes, right here in WDC, we can get similar issues.

Hearing what you other guys are going through, I realize I may have stepped into this one once or twice, though it's too soon to say it's been "too long" yet on anything I've sent out. But I do have a poem stuck in what appears to be a dead contest right here on WDC.

This is a problem that's only going to get bigger as time goes on.
