Well worth reading - unique approach with two stories going along parallel paths, with the occasional intersect.

I haven't been very faithful at updating this blog. I do have another blog that I update regularly. You can find the link in my bio if you are interested. Most of my recent writing has been longer items as noted previously. However I have added a few short pieces to my portfolio. I just came back from a trip to Bangladesh and I'm sure there is a story there. Again see my other website if you are interested. I wrote a short piece on the driving there and put it in my portfolio.

I am gratified to see dozens of hits daily on my various stories posted here.

Just finished the first drafts of two books. The first chronicles our year in China from
2002 to 2003. The second details my conversion from a middle aged couch potato to a week end triathlete. Now I have months of revision and editing in front of me.

Since I made my last entry, I have moved from the UAE to Doha, Qatar. Life has been pretty busy, so writing has taken a backseat to most things. I have been trying to finalize my novel "Gil" and hopefully send it off to a publisher. I have also been trying to expand my short story "Sinbad". I have started a new story, hopefully novel length, called "Oxygen", the story of what happens when a catastrophic change occurs to our world.

Off to Thailand for a week and then spending the summer in Canada. Hope to be back writing full force.

I am currently on a holiday in London, staying near Trafalgar Square in the theatre district. Being here has inspired me to expand on a short story that I have written.

"Sinbad the Sailor

It has restricted access right now because I have submitted it to a magazine in the hopes of having it published. If you want to read it let me know and I will send you the pass key.

The story takes place in London in the theatre district, so I have spent days wandering the streets, taking pictures and writing desriptions. I hope to take this from a 5000 word short story to a novelette, or possibly to novel length.

I feel that I am living the charcter's life as I walk the streets.

I have never experienced this before. At the social part of the writing conference, anyone can get up and read a poem they have written, excerpt from a book or a short story. It was fun to hear and I got brave enough to get up myself and read. I read my story "Metric Time. I got a good round of applause, but so did every other reader. But afterwards, I had lots of people come up to me and give me positive feedback on the story and the reading. Anyone else been through similar experiences?

Attending my first ever writing conference in downtown Chicago. It is great to be in the company of so many accomplished writers. Many of them have been published frequently. I was suprised that no one mentioned WDC. I have asked several questions about on line writing groups and people respond with generic answers, but no on seems to be familiar with this site. Some one did ask a question about NaNoWriMo, and almost no one had even heard of it, and those who had heard, were not familiar with its purpose. I would be interested if anyone has thoghts on these observations.

I have now been rejected by 5 of my 6 submissions. One is still outstanding. No feedback, of course, but no one promises that anyway. One periodical did suggest an alternate location that I might submit stories. I will re-evaluate my material and start a new round of submissions. In the meantime, I am attending my first ever writers conference in Chicago.
