Ye gods, it is nearing the end of February of this new year already - time is certainly flying past!

My ordeals with the dentist are now hopefully over as I had the offending tooth finally filled yesterday morning. Every time that I have been back before, the dentist has cleaned the inside of the root canal out, and applied antibiotics; with the result that the infection has returned, and as a result, he left the tooth open, as to fill it would have caused greater infection. This time, the infection having finally cleared, he applied yet more antibiotics to the root canal, and filled it. He is a painstaking man, who has spent more than 6 hours working on my tooth over the weeks, with the result that every time I see him I have jaw ache for days because of spending so long with my mouth wide open! Still, it is finally finished, and the relief I feel is enormous. Hopefully now I will be able to spend some quality time here on WDC!

I spoke too soon - the day after the dentist had continued with work on my ailing tooth, the infection was back with a vengeance! I have come to the conclusion that he doesn't have to do anything other than look in my mouth before another infection kicks in, which of course means that pulling the damn thing out is out of the question. I remember being told that elderly relatives had insisted on having all of their teeth pulled out and dentures fitted in order to avoid ever having to visit another dentist, and can remember thinking that they must have been mad, but now I am not so sure! If, and its a big if, this tooth ever gets sorted, I will open the biggest bottle of champagne in celebration, providing of course that I am not still on the antibiotics that mean alcohol is out of the question!!!
