You know, today I read a survey that brought into question the quality of the resource that is Writing.com. To be sure it is a resource but it's value is what you make it. If you write, read and review regularly then your writing will also be reviewed.
Sure it is easy to be distracted by all of the activity, but that is what community is about.
Reach out to someone on WDC today and let them know you care!

Always do good when it is in your hand to do so. WDC is about people. It's about people's dreams and achieving goals. A circus is about people, making them smile and showing them a good time. Clowns are to make people laugh and to touch their hearts, this is my goal and aim at WDC. I am not the most prolific author, my portfolio is fairly small and tends to collect more signatures than anything. My life has been blessed and I have set out to bless others through my clowning and through being able to help out where I can around WDC.
You know, a ribbon, a merit badge or a c-note does not cost much and they can touch people in such a special way. You know it is true that the more you can give, you will receive so much more. This is also true around WDC. Put others first, review their work, send 'em a ribbon or merit badge if they touch you in some special way. Give to others, put them first. In the long run the rewards are so much greater and the blessings will be in friendships.
Have a happy October!

Like everything else, this can wait a little while. I just keep doing that. Wow, the time flies by!
I wanted to bring a word about clowning. Since the title Typo's Circus offers certain promises I thought I would share a little bit.
First off, one is not necessarily born to clowning. One stumbles into clowning much as one stumbles into writing. It is something that you really have to want to do and have to work at to achieve.
To become a clown you have to learn make-up and costuming at the very beginning and the make-up is definitely learned by trial and error. Every clown's face is different, we each have a unique look our own. You may borrow elements from other clowns but the end product must be original.
Similarly costuming is not total chaos. The colors may clash but the costume as a whole must present itself nicely. Mine is a combination of primary colors, red, yellow and blue.
Big shoes are loads of fun.
About the nose. No it does NOT squeak. It is attached in various ways. I have used latex nose glue. I have used a form of double stick tape but the best I have found is nose putty. It's similar in consistency and appearance to Silly Putty. The difference is that it gets really sticky when activiated by body heat. So a thin layer inside the nose and it adheres nicely.
Wigs: I use a red Silly Boy when I use a wig. I quit using a wig last year because it gets very hot here in the summer and I overheated twice. No one has ever said I do not look like a real clown (more on that in a minute) or anything. The only time they did was when I tried some of that red-spray in my hair.
When a child mentions: "You're not a real clown, are you?" what they actually mean is that they had some sort of expectation that you did not meet. A lot of clowns respond with "Well, you're not a real kid, are you?" This is not only rude but they are missing an opportunity to have a valuable constructive criticism. I respond to that with, "well of course, I'm a real clown, why did you ask?" The the child tells me what is on his or her mind. I don't get this much any more after five years of clowining.
Lastly, a true clown will never make someone else (excluding other clowns) the but of a joke. The clown is always to be the but of the gag. This is good advice for us all in our daily lives. How much better the world would be.
Live, love and laugh!

Two things are really slowing up my process beyond my own personal procrastination inclination and those are life and earning a living.
Earning a living obviously gets a priority. Aside from being a real clown and balloon artist I am a medical transcriptionist and my typing activities usually take up the bulk of the day. Today is no exception.
It looked for a while like last night I was going to get some time to spend reading/writing but that was not my destiny.
My children are all grown adults and live on their own. Sometimes they still need attention from their dad though. Last night was one of those nights. Our eldest was just down. So I took her out for a bite to eat. We had a wonderful time and she also shares a love for writing so we talked about writing.
We are both considering participating in NaNoWriMo. We both lead very busy lives and my understanding is that this makes us perfect candidates.
Anyway, today I am going to concentrate on getting my work done on the day-job so that I might get a few minutes this evening to either spend with my wife or spend involved with writing activites.
Have a great Sunday!

I have made an amazing new discovery! This discovery is so astounding, it will literally change your writing life! I know it is changing mine, and it was right there, all along. Every body says it, but how many people are actually doing it?
I guess that is where this blog comes in. Here it is: write every day. That's it! How many times have you heard it? How many times have you read it? Write every day. Something, anything, just write. It actually get's you going!
There are so many things here at WDC to help us along with that too! Just look around at the contests and forums. If you can't find something to kick you in the write direction then you're not looking for it!
Write on!

So I have begun a major edit of Charley's Story and I gotta tell you, it is work. It's good work though, it's fun work, but it's work. The going is slow, I'm a little less than half done.
I hope to have it finished by the end of the week so I am making myself a commitment that I will get through my work day early enough that I will have time to spend two hours on the story this evening. For those really astute dectectives. I have placed in the story a symbol ($$$). That is the point the story is edited to. Please feel free to check it's location and hold me accountable if it has not moved.
Well, there's a lot of keystrokes ahead before I can get to this so I am going to have to quit hanging around on WDC and actually get to work!
If you are reading this, thanks for stopping by.

I have decided to try this. I hope I am good at it. The real problem is that as the title to this entry implies, I am my own worst enemy. I am a world class procrastinator to start. But more than that I am so easily distracted. Take right now for example, right now I am supposed to be earning a living, typing medical reports for a hospital somewhere in Arizona. Am I working? No, I am clowning around on WDC, typing this introductory blog entry.
Yesterday on the scrolling text system there was this really funny discussion about WDC addiction. Yes, it is a very addictive site. There is so much to see and do at all times. It is really quite rewarding. It is so good to be able to give and receive input on all of our work and to take on a new identity here in our little corner of cyber space.
Now, see how easily I am distracted from even this? Okay, so today I have been notified by Janie over at Angel Buddies forum (check it out) that I have been assigned a partner! More on that at a later date, for now suffice to say I am excited! At last someone to help kick me into the write direction!
Hope you enjoy my blog, please feel free to peruse my rather limited port. I hope to be adding more in the very near future to the port and to this blog.
