I am in the process of clarifying my ideas. That's why so many of these entries begin: What is ___ ? I am also an absurd humorist. That's why there are other entries that are pure nonsense.

I don't have much desire to write realistic decriptions of my daily life, mainly because it's very routine.

I am more interested in my imaginative life. That's what I blog about.

You can read this to be entertained and I would be delighted if you want to comment or argue. I like to test my ideas against other people's ideas so I can see where I need to modify my ideas. My goal is to have a set of thoughts in my brain that do not contradict each other, sort of a "theory of everything" that I can believe in. )

Fungi can be a "fun guy" and Pond Scum can be... uh... scum.

Right. The fungi and pond scum might be wishing they were human life forms or glad they aren't. They don't't have to worry about going dentures, going bald, or dropsy.
You're giving me ideas for a campfire with characters named Fungi and Pond Scum.. hah

And who knows what dreams fungi and pond scum dream? We humans like to assume we are the only ones on the planet who have any thoughts.

Are you sure? Maybe not. Maybe we are an organized mess and live on as fungi or pond scum.

Yes, that's a good one and I've seen lists that contain things like "exaggeration" and "double meaning' and "absurd comparison" among many others.

Of course, the problem is there is no guarantee that mechanically applying any rule will end up being funny.

The word "list" has a double meaning but it's not particularly funny. (A ship can list in the water.)

In one of my philosophies the answer would be both.

If we look at the universe as something that exists in time. Then it begins as an intense hot simplicity which expands into a cooling complexity. Within the complexity there are pockets of complexity so complex that they are us.

If the universe contains conscious entities then is it itself a conscious entity?

After all, isn't that why we call ourselves conscious entities? Because we contain a conscious entity? If you cut off a person's arms and legs he is still a conscious entity because he contains a conscious entity.

What are chemicals? Are we not made of chemicals? Are we not completely dependent on being chemicals? Unless the right chemicals are in a perfect array... we die.

What intrigues me is the question... Were we deliberately created by a conscious entity to some obscure purpose or did we sort of bubble up in a primordial pool when the right chemicals happened to be in a perfect array.

You might add double meanings to the list although it might fit under the "unexpected" category. Much great humor centers around a common meaning and an undercurrent meaning.
