A Texas Sunrise



A friend, William Taylor, took this picture. He visits Surfside Beach with his dogs almost every morning, watching the sun rise while the dogs prance about at the water's edge.

This is only about ten miles from where I lived in Lake Jackson, Texas. Sadly, I only visited this beach about four times in the six years I lived nearby.



Each day is a challenge. A challenge to get by without thinking about the fibromyalgia pains. A challenge to stay awake when chronic fatigure wants to take over. And a challenge to navigate through fibro fog.

I haven't been writing as much as in the past. For years, I wrote at least 500 words a day. Now, I'm lucky if I write 500 words in month. Sigh.

The ones who were left would be his faithful and those who keep saying "I don't talk about politics."

If the world, or at least the Powers That Be in Washington - regardless of party affiliation - would listen to the two of you here - I mean REALLY listen - for just the length of time it takes to read this exchange between you, one might hold out at least the smallest glimmer of hope that things would start being done a bit differently. But, with the reality of Kenzie's words above, it's hard to believe that that will ever happen.

You both make wonderfully strong points here, my friends. We just need a way to get others - many others - to realize, and understand them. Therein lies the perpetual challenge.

Yep, Bud. That's what happens. People think they have to be right. But in today's world, it's more than that. When they have no real arguments, they call people names. And then they stand in a group of others tossing out names and feel so brave. It's hurtful if you're the one on the receiving end, especially if one of those hurling insults was someone you thought was a friend.

You know that, in a 2-dimensional environment, "you" become the embodiment of your words. That's what most people have to use to create the "you" that they see. Sometimes, your words can be impassioned, sincere, yet completely wrong in the view of others. What this SHOULD create, especially amongst those who consider themselves fellow travelers on the journey, is debate, discussion, and mediation. But some folks are much more interested in being "right" than "happy", and their views overtake their lives; their existence.

It's not like that for all things, or all people. But it is like that for some. Once the debate is rested, or the discussion over, what remains should be the essence of the relationship in the lives of the people involved: friendship, respect, and honorable interaction. Vigorous debate is not antithetical to friendship, faith, or relationship--it can strengthen them. It depends on the heart which participates in it.

I have just discovered your blog... This is unbelievable! How can they use your writing without permission?
I never really searched the web to check before, but I did come across two of my poems that were used
without any permission, but I saw that at least I was credited for both. If I put something on the web, this
means that I'm happy to share it, but to find out that someone else put their name underneath... Hmm, I don't
like that! I wonder if you'll get any answers from this site. :)

Thanks, Jace . I don't spend as much time here as I once did (as evidenced by my lack of blog entries), but it's still the most wonderful writer's site around!!!

So many things have changed in that time. I found something I wrote about when we first got the ability to use pink letters. Woo-hoo!

Congrats on being a new mod. When I was a new mod, I spent lots of time welcoming (and reviewing) newbies. Folks still write to me from time to time about that - about how I was the first to make contact with many newbies back then.

For some reason this morning, I decided to look up some of the Mods online--you are one. Being a new Mod, I wanted to check out some of the folks who've been here awhile. Congratulations on your WdC birthday--nine years is a real milestone. At just over two myself, I've often tried to imagine what things were like back then. Guess I take things for granted now, though I try not to.

Anyway, I am gratified that you're still involved--it gives me hope for myself. One thing I need to do is write more in my own blog; keep it more up-to-date. While I truly love being self-employed, it tends to eat up my WdC time.
