It is a waste to ignore the musings of the mind.
Writing is the communication of the writer's hopes and dreams. To write is to express the laughter, the tears, the joys of the heart. It is the writer's desire to communicate all his feelings and desires in her/her heart to a reader.

Have you heard the story, "Once Someone Asked Me"?

It's all about the time I met a man who asked me, Will you be my wife? I will give you the whole world, diamonds on your fingers, mansions all over the world when you travel, big ships, small boats, palatial homes, the oceans where you can sail and watch the sun sink in the horizon, the earth where you can build all your palaces, anything at all you wish, I will give you if you will be my wife.

I looked at him and smiled, and I thought: but I would like to have the moon.

I would like the moon on which I can dream of dreams that never end; I would like the moon where I can hug my children, my grandchildren, my loved ones; I would like the moon where I can write stories that would inspire all children in the world; I would like to have the moon where there is no war, no fighting, no blood, no angry words, no noise; I would like to have the moon where I can look at God and say, "I have the moon and I am at peace."

And the man looked away, walked away, in sorrow, and didn't understand why I would like to have the moon...

I was watching the news on TV the other day, and saw an ad about humankindness. Why, I wondered, would there be an ad about humankindness? I thought all along that humankindness is free, a feature in people who have a heart, and whose heart is filled with humankindness.

What is humankindness? It is the love we have for each other. It is the aid and help we give to those less fortunate than we are. It is the goodness we feel when our children have done well in school and in every endeavor they put their hearts to do. It is the appreciation we express when we read words in a book. It is the sympathy letter we send to someone who lost his/her loved one. It is the hug we give to a lonely individual. It is the kiss we share with a loved one. It is the sharing of everyday problems. It is the giving of gifts and presents to those who can least afford one.

Humankindness for sale? No, not at all. Humankindness is free, to share with those whose hearts are alone, whose life is broken, whose sadness overwhelms, whose life is empty, whose future is hopeless.

That to me is humankindness.

What is the best way to critique an art of work without sounding as if the critiquer's intention is to critic instead of encourage?

I have joined quite a number of critique groups and some writers are just not accepting the fact their work needs revising. There is always that feeling of "no, my work is exceptional; and who are you to critique my work?"

I believe for a person to critique someone else's work, that person should know the rules and etiquette of critiquing. There are occasions when we receive a bad critique, and the first reaction we have is to get angry. Maybe some critiquers are really out to discourage, to inflict the same bad critique as they got for their work. It is understandable when we react to a bad critique, but maybe the first thing we should do is to look at our work again, pretend we are critiquing someone else's work, and with a clear conscience, reread our work. It is rather difficult to do that if we are angry, of course. So, what is the best thing to do?

In the world of writing, a critique to one's work is the best that can happen to a writer. We look at what we have written and critiquers have a different idea; therefore, we take in the critique, examine our work through the eye of the critiquer, and be glad someone wants to read our work!!! Can you imagine if no one would like to read our work?

Parents are a the most human of all human beings. They have a big heart, a big love for their children, a bigger responsibility when it concerns their children. Parents do not (and never will, if they can help it!) get angry. Okay, they do, but within a few seconds they are in tears, and with a whole love in their heart, they have forgiven their children. Parents do not have the heart to relinquish their responsibility of loving and guiding their children. Parents are always there, in the background, in the mind, in the heart, taking care of their children and loving them most of all. Parents may have some doubts about their children, but in their hearts they know and believe their children will be a responsible adult, prepared and ready to shoulder their own duties. Whatever reasons children say they hate their parents, are part and parcel of growing up and they do not actually hate them -- because parents are always there, always in the background, just waiting for their children to be aware that parents are there and will always be there, looking after them, praying for their success, guiding them, and if opportunity presents, parents are there to assist their children when they err or make a mistake.

To the children of today, my advice to you is: love and obey your parents. You may think they are strict, they are narrow minded, they are selfish but look again and more closely because there are your parents, always at the ready to assist you, to help you through any hardship you may encounter, to love you and love you more until their breath is taken away from them.

Children, love and obey your parents!!!

Did you see the moon last night? It was large, clear, and bright -- much like the clear waters of the Pacific Ocean.

Why is it called the "harvest moon"? Actually the "harvest moon" is the first full moon that symbolizes the beginning of the fall season. The full moon falls "closest to the autumnal equinox", which is September 22. This date in the calendar is the beginning of fall on the northern hemisphere.

The beginning of fall. Is it also the beginning of something new? something different? something most unusual? Is it the start of a new school year, college, that is, when as freshmen we leave our homes, our nest, our heaven, and go out into the world and get a taste of what it is in store for us - as we grow in stature and in intellect.

It is the beginning of a new life - where we make mistakes, correct our errors, make more mistakes and correct our error all over again. It is the time to "fall" because our young minds are simply not able to cope with what the world is in store for us. But the "fall" also means the beginning of learning. With the brightness of the full moon, we know - somehow - we shall learn how else we can help ourselves from the mistakes we make. Errors are just that, errors and mistakes and misunderstandings and misgivings. Because errors can be corrected, mistakes can be forgiven, and misgivings can be forgotten with the help of maturity, guidance, and the ever (and forever) love we have from our parents, our siblings, our friends, even.

And so let the "harvest moon" light our way; guide us through all the harshness of the world, and lead us to the brightness ahead of us. Come on, "harvest moon", lead the way and take us to the ends of the world because we are prepared with whatever we shall encounter throughout the years of our harvest moons.

There is a land that calls me in my dream
A land that's gentle, a land that's genteel
A dream land of tenderness, and of kindness;

There is a land that beckons me in my dream
A land of freshness, unspoiled in its newness
A dream land of the good, and of the dutiful;

There is a land that hails me from afar
A land that's magical, a land of the stars
A dream land of the fairies, and of the mystic;

There is a land that whispers to me at dawn
A land of the people, and of a generation
A dream land of home, and of home sweet home;

There is land that moves me to dream of dreams
A land that's glorious, and a land of the noble
A dream land of the exalted, and of the memorable;

There is land that entices me, lures me to dream
A land of the dainty, a land of the beautiful
A dream land of wonder, and of the admirable;

There is a land that befriends me in my daydreams
A land that encourages me, a land of the confident
A dream land of hope, and of the brave in dreams;

There is a land that endows me, fills me with dreams
A land of plenty, a land of fields and of talents
A dream land of endurance, and of lasting devotion;

There is a land that summons me in my nightly dreams
A land of the authoritative, and of the precise power
A dream of the influential, and of the prestige;

There is a land that invites me to share my dreams
A land of writers, of authors, and of dream makers
A dream land of fame, of publicity, and of immortality.

When I was a very young and innocent girl, I didn't quite understand the words, "forgive and forget". I guess we all go through a maze of misunderstandings and wrong impressions at a young age. And as we reach that glorious age of "old", we realize we have not really reached "old" because we still have volumes of problems that we need to solve for our own understanding.

"Forgive", a word that is really very hard to do and accomplish, especially when we are loaded with loathing and hatred in our heart. We are shamed and embarrassed and that feeling of being trodden to the dust is a very strong feeling that gives reason - not to forgive - because we have been hurt - no, our pride has been hurt - and that is the most unforgiveable thing that could happen to a human. If only, we don't have feelings!

I get this idea sometimes that if we disregard all the pride, the ego, that cause all the wrongs being committed among us, humans, and in the name of, maybe our world would be a better place to live in. Can we do that? I mean don't listen to what "pride" and "ego" are saying and just enjoy the company of everyone else in the planet? Then, we can probably learn to "forgive" those who have done their utmost to trample us to dust!

How do we forget? Easy! Don't think about it. Clear the mind and the hurt in the heart and the evil that keeps us from enjoying the company of our fellow humans. Forgive we were hurt and forget it ever happened. Can we do that? It is always a long, long, long way to "forgive and forget"!!!

Perhaps we can really "forgive and forget" and it doesn't really hurt at all!!! Let's give it a try, yes?
