Halloween is also Nevada Day. Yes, Nevada became a state on Halloween. Of course, since everyone wants a three-day holiday, Nevada Day is usually celebrated on Friday whether it falls on Halloween ... sorry, Nevada Day or not.

I think the day a state became a member of the union should be the day the state's birthday is celebrated. Rearranging celebrations to create three day holidays doesn't appeal to me and never did. A celebration, whether it's a state's birthday or Halloween, should be held on the day it was first celebrated or happened.

Three day holidays
make Monday's more depressing
no one wants to work.
