1.  Defining a Person in NevadaID #673164

Jalál (Glory), 9 ‘Ilm (Knowledge), 166 BE – Saturday, October 24, 2009 about 3:24 PM Pacific Time

I have to admit that living in Nevada get interesting. There is a petition circulating which requires the signatures of 97,000 Nevadans to place it on the ballot in 2010. This initiative concerns personhood and receive a majority of votes in both 2010 and 2012 to make it into the Nevada Constitution. The summary of this initiative states: "In the great state of Nevada, the term 'person' applies to every human being."

I learned about this initiative in today's issue of the Las Vegas Review-Journal. In her Saturday column, Jane Ann Morrison discussed the initiative and some of its ramifications. I haven't investigated this initiative yet, so I have no opinion on it at this time. I haven't gotten beyond the point of finding it amusing.

No one has asked me to sign this petition, which is probably just as well since I don't yet have an opinion. There is, however, one question I would like answered. Do I have to take a DNA test to prove I'm a human being? The next questions would be, What happens if I fail the DNA test? Do I get deported to another planet?"
