The Radioactive Zone
My first attempt at a blog. Let's see how long I can keep this up. |

The Radioactive Zone Welcome! Come on in and Enjoy! Warning: insanity and craziness are sure to follow. Please read at your own risk. |
| Star Trek or Star Wars? |
Well, before I get to the prompt, let me ask. What has happened to WDC?????? It's all bubbly and neat now! Sheesh, not log in for a while and the whole site goes changing. That and my inbox was full of stuff. Still, I like this new WDC! Star Trek or Star Wars? I think it's safe to say I'm more of a Star Trek person, but in all honesty, I'm a Whovian at heart. But out of the two in the prompt, I like Star Trek more. Made more sense. Star Wars for me was kinda meh. Yoda's speaking pattern is funny, though. So yeah. Star Trek trumps. Leonard Nimoy was an awesome Spock, too. -Radiation Out! |
| Gone for Now |
I feel kinda bad about not posting in who knows how long, but here's the truth. I've joined another site that I think is more suited to my age and ability. Ya see, I've found that Deviantart, (the place I've moved to) has a lot more people my age, and a few of my close friends are there too. And don't get me wrong, I love WDC, but I think I'll be taking a bit of a break from here. Now, I won't be gone forever, but I won't be writing anything or reviewing. At least for now. So, until I get back... -Radiation Out! |
| Surprise!! |
| Oh, dear gosh, it's been awhile. So sorry! You see, I sorta maybe got addicted to a Tv show called Torchwood, and now I'm in love with it. I literally spent every weekend at my friend's house watching it with her. At first, I was just like "Meh, it's a show with aliens", but after a few episodes I'm more like "OMQ this is amazing!". So there we have it. I've finished the show, bawled my eyes out during Children of the Earth, and am currently back in business. (Don't be too surprised if I start cracking random jokes that reference Torchwood, though). Ahem, to the prompt! Describe one of your most pleasant surprises. Alright, this one's easy, because I don't get surprised a whole lot, and when I do it's rather funny to see. A bit of background first though. My father is British, and his side of the family all lives in England. My mom is French-Canadian, and most of her family lives in Canada. And we're sort of in the middle. Because of the distance, I don't get to see my grandparents and extended family too often, and when I do, I'm normally aware of the visit. So that said, the following scenario is what happened when my British grandparents visited without me having a clue about it. Me:(walking into the house from marching band practice, while talking to my mom) We got to watch a few college band perform today, it was really cool. Mom: Sounded interesting. Me: (Walking into living room to set my backpack down.) Yeah, they were pretty good. (Turns to see my Nana leaning against the wall) ...Wha? When...? When did you get here?" Nana: (Chuckles) Me: (Starts laughing and runs to hug her)OhmygoshIhadnoideayouwerecomingwhendidyougethere? (Popa walks down stairs) Me:(Happy cheer, runs to hug him too. Loss for words.) (Mom and Dad are smiling and I'm a giddy little school girl) So, yeah. Somewhere during that I started crying but it was too much of a blur to remember when. During dinner that night, I was kinda quiet, mostly 'cause I was still trying to convince myself I wasn't dreaming and I didn't start hallucinating after getting whacked by a flying drumstick at practice(which hurt). It was a really nice surprise to get to see them again, because my Nana isn't really the best traveler anymore, and tickets to the US can be pretty expensive. And then there's the fact they're both getting on in years, and that could have very well have been the last time I ever get to see them. But enough cynicism, them coming to see us meant a lot to me and it was definitely a pleasant surprise. Now if you'll excuse me, I need to go phone my friend and ask her to let me borrow her Torchwood soundtrack CDs, because I have the hankering to listen to depressing death music while writing an equally depressing story for a school contest. Call me strange and I will just chuckle and walk away. Radiation Out! |
| Bucket List |
Describe five things you want to see or do before it's too late. 1) (These kinda count as two, but who cares?) Shake hands with Stephen Hawking and Chuck Norris. 2) Be on the Supreme Court 3)Visit Russia/Eastern Europe 4)Publish a book 5) Go see the Most Beautiful Death in the World live, even though it's in Japanese. Please note that this list is subject to change at any time, since I'm a teen and have no plans to die anytime soon. Radiation Out! |
| Death Penalty? |
Do you believe in the death penalty? Defend your answer. I know I'll sound cold when I say this, but yes I do. In most cases, people receiving the death penalty are murderers who knew full well of what they were doing. They chose to rob other people of their lives, so in my eyes, why should those people get to live as well? If a guy has killed 10 people, why should he get to live the lives that his victims could have? And I know he would be locked away for life, but have you seen some of the prisons these days? They get TV, sports, 3 meals a day. I just don't think that a murderer should be allowed that sort of privilege. So yes, I believe in the death penalty. Ghaa, I sound like a horrible person... | Saxophone! |
If you could learn to play a musical instrument, one which you've never played before, which would you choose and why? Yay, finally updating! So, if I could learn how to play an musical instrument, I think I'd choose the saxophone. Why? Well, I already play a whole bunch of other instruments, but I hardly play any real woodwind instruments, so I think it'd be fun playing something new. On the topic of musical instruments, in 6th grade, my old school would let the people who wanted to play band try out the instruments we wanted. Based on how much you wanted to play said instruments, you would be assigned them in the 6th grade band. For example, I wanted to play the baritone, no doubt about it. But I had to have two other choices, so I went with clarinet and percussion (the latter of which I now play in marching band). When I was called in by my band teacher, I played all three, and told her which I enjoyed the most. Baritone trumped all. I think the main reason I chose to play the baritone was because of a lot of the members of my family play woodwind instruments. My big brother played the bass clarinet, my mom plays flute, my aunt played oboe, and my uncle plays saxophone. So yeah, there's my reason, I wanted to be unique and play a low brass instrument. Anyway, I think I'd like to learn how to play the saxophone. Radiation Out! Oh, and here's a question for you, is the piano a string instrument, because it has strings, or a percussion, because it involves hitting something with something else? (I seriously don't know) |
| New Year's Resolutions? |
What are my New Year's Resolutions? Not a clue. I don't really make resolutions, mostly 'cause I forget about them in a few days. But if I had to make one, it'd be getting some work done on my book. It's been sitting in my flash drive for who knows how long, and every time I open it to write, I can't get in the mood. It's hard to write a sarcastic guy when A)You're a girl B)You're not feeling very sarcastic C)You've got no clue what to write about. I would like to get some work done, though. This book means a lot to me and I want to get it published. But with the rate I'm writing, it'll be a few decades until it's finished. So I guess that's my resolution for this year. | Happy New Year's Eve! |
Whoo, first entry in a while. I've sat down at my desk, like, a dozen times thinking "Ok, I'm gonna update my blog." But then I got distracted by something or I got a call. So ashamed... Anyway, since it's the end of 2012, why not end the year with an entry? Looking back over the past year, what do you consider to be your greatest accomplishment of the year? My greatest accomplishment? Hmm, I'd have to say either doing really well in the marching band tournament or not breaking any bones. I have the worse luck when it comes to injuries, mostly due to the fact I didn't get enough calcium as a child. (I'm paying for it now, I have to drink tons of milk every stinkin' day!) So, due to my lack of calcium, my bones are very thin and prone to breaking. It sucks. Since I haven't broken anything this year, I count that as an accomplishment!(I probably just jinxed myself.) Then there's my marching band tournament, which we placed 13th out of 50 bands (I know in an earlier post I said 100, but I don't know how that happened, there were only 50 bands. Sorry!) So, that's about it! See everyone next year! Radiation Out! |

| Pet Peeves part 2 |
Hello everyone! I'm back from the competition! We placed 13th out of 100 bands. Not bad, for our first performance. But that's not what I'm here to talk about. Today I found out about another one of my pet peeves. Well, I suppose that's what you could call it. One of the things ! found out ticks me off are the people who go to church and think they have the right to criticize other people for who they are, just 'cause they're a church person. Today at church, I was talking to my friends when a woman nearby said something that caught my attention. She said "Your two have no right coming here, you're going to hell anyway." (Pardon my language). I turned to see who she had said it to, and it was a pair of young men, who, as far as I could tell, looked as if they were dating. It really annoyed me that that lady thought she could say that to them. They were standing there, holding hands, talking quietly, and she just goes right up to them and says that! In a church! It's rude, inconsiderate, and just plain wrong. I don't see what they were doing wrong. I wanted to go over there and tell that lady off, just for saying that. I didn't, and I can't help but regret it, I feel like I should have done something, and I feel bad about not. Maybe it's the fact I didn't see the whole thing and don't understand homophobes, but I can't stand how people think they can do that kind of stuff. It really ruined my Sunday. Radiation |
