Don't get me wrong I like Ophra. I think she has brought to our attention many issues that we may have missed. I also like it that when she made a mistake she owned up to it. What I can't understand is the 18 month good bye swan-song! Hey Lou Dobbs announces he's leaving the NIGHT he left!

Even Leno took a few years before he left the Tonight Show and he stayed because of contract obligations, but he also gave us info about his new show. I further dislike that her last day is 9/11. Yes I know she had no idea in 1986 that 9/11 would have a different meaning today, but what so big about staying around so it comes out to 25 years? Her new cable network is suppose to kick off in Jan of 2011 and it would make more sense for her to start her new program when the network goes on the air not nine months later. I realize that contract obligations were probably a big part of the decision, but lets be forth coming with it. Like I am not going to be renewing my contract so I can devote all my energies to the new network.

My grandmother once said that when one door closes another door opens. In this case Ophra has thrown open a new door and is taking eighteen months to close the other door behind her! So what's with all the tears? Of course this is bigger news item than everything else! How did the National Enquier miss this along with the New York Times? Could it be they both thought it wasn't much of a news event?
