I have been a freelance writer for many years and only wrote articles. Shortly after the death of my identical twin sister I started writing poems. I subscribe to several writers publications and they all state how important it is to have an online portfolio, blog or website. Well, I joined Writing.com on January 18 and have mainly posted poems. Yesterday I finally started a blog. I have a lot to learn about blogging! Anyway I hope that all this will help my career on the international scene. I am from Jamaica. I think trying a blog and journaling will help your creativity. Take care and all the very best.

Yeah...boredom can be soooooo annoying, yet it can also help you notice more things. Like when I was bored in my room, I stared at an old photo of mine. Then I noticed that there was a little girl in the backround. Same with writing, all of your experiences that you can remmember come to be one and gets you thinking. For instance, you're day at a beach will trigger an impulse of writing about water creatures. And mystery can also be in there. Even being bored can benifit you. When you've thought of a story, poem, ect. after many thoughts in quiet, you may think of something even greater than the oringinal. It's amazing, well I believe so. ^_^

Boredom can be a killer to the muse. I try to read, watch or do something original, out of my ordinary choices when I'm bored. It can help spur the creativity....

I've wandered away from magazines lately, but I still love bookstores. One of my favorite places is a hole in the wall second hand bookstore I stumbled across one day while trying to kill time before a dentist appointment. A lot of people think second hand bookstores are bad, but to me they're a treasure - kind of like a hidden gem.

You're so right about Second Life being a great place for writers. I've been active in SL for nearly a year and because I found so many possibilities for writers, started a blog about writing opportunities and resources there -- http://www.writersinthevirtualsky.com -- which has a lot of suggestions for things to do, and more coming. It's a fun, inspiring place to be and full of fellow writers.

It is a bit addicting isn't it? I have the most fun here than any other site. I know what you mean about the creativity. People write things in here I'd NEVER think of and I wish I had.
