I've been surprising myself this month with discovering exactly how much of my writing reflects myself- my emphasis on dreaming is one aspect of it. Another point: in the first two books about this MC, he was pretty much two-dimensional, morally upright, mentally strong, very hard worker, mildly ambitious (but limited in the geographical range of his ambitions), had lost two parents to death and one spouse to divorce. This time around, he's much more well-rounded, or we're getting to know him!

Hi How are you doing with your NaNo novel? I hope you are over flowing with the words and ideas you require for your NaNo writing success.

Which eye is open for tonight? I hope you get the rest and sleep you need to keep writing.

Hi Viv! Funny that you ask that (which eye is open) because this morning I've been writing about my poor Main Character and his nightmares and being so frightened he falls out of bed and runs into the bedroom door, all with eyes shut! I'm almost to 55K!!! So excited-I posted a comment to your notebook earlier:)

How are you doing? I hope well. What's happening with you and NaNo?

I plan on continuing to write. However I am going to do this at a more leisurely pace.

Other than my yucky dialogue, NaNo is wonderful! My goal today is 35K, and 40K by the 12th. NaNo site stats have me finishing 50K on the 15th-but not stopping there! I keep thinking of new novelish distractions (i.e., new turns of character, new actions, and ways to keep my MC going after his death at the end of this novel). *Thumbsup* so I'm really happy with November's progression-novel-wise *Laugh*

Be careful with those protagonists who are supposed to dire at the end! *Laugh* Dav was supposed to die at the end of Last Voyage and then decided he would come up with all these great things to do if only I hadn't killed him at the end of the book.... *sigh* so now we are at 4 short stories, a prequel novella in progress, and at least 3 projected novels, and who knows how many more shorts and things are in there.... LMAO!

I LOVE those kinds of characters though!! Look at Stephen King, bringing out a new Dark Tower in 2012, years after the last! This series I started Dec. 9, '09, and finished the first one (and wrote the 2nd and much of the 3rd) in March '10. Well, I thought MC was going to get himself killed at the end of Book One-and here it is, Book Four-three with him as MC-he's going to time travel and die at the end of this one-and still wants to come back for more-Doesn't hurt I'm fond of him

Reached 25K+ yesterday (Monday, 7th) which makes me halfway to 50K in less than a quarter-so great to see so many reaching or nearly reaching 50K already! Yayyyy! I planned in Oct. to go for 70K, so I'm not halfway to that goal yet; novel is going so well (the writing anyway LOL) I wouldn't mind reaching 80K-further postponing the demise of my MC *Smile*

You might be at 200K before you stop *Laugh*
This is the first NaNo, and first time, I've used an outline. I went through Experimental Plotters Challenge with Madam Okira (I loved it, I recommend it, and Oct. NaNo Prep Challenge-and I made an outline/synopsis, complete with labeling as to scene or sequel-instead of just letting the writing fly, I have a framework to which to refer-mainly so I don't leave out anything important I intended. Nevertheless, I'm fleshing out and adding a lot more.

Only got through about 4 scenes on the outline, but have 25K and 88 pp. So I'm a very happy NaNo'er, who is not comparing myself to other people, because NaNo is a challenge to each of us not a "who can write more words faster" *Smile*

Thanks to NaNoWriMists' new Buddy System, I'm getting fired up and energised for November's NaNo-got the novel concept in hand, pulling out my old notes, getting in the mood to write 1,667+ words a day .in November!

Just started the new Pendergast novel from Douglas Preston & Lincoln Child, Cold Vengeance, last evening. Riveting, as usual! Also enjoying reading several Scott Nicholson horror novels, amazingly literate and historically grounded: The Farm and The Home are my top favourites so far. All three of these novels I highly recommend.
