Many Canadians would like such a case to proceed. In many of our border communities, babies were often born in American hospitals; because they were teh only ones around. They were born to Canadian parents and spent their entire lives in Canada. Now they discover they must file American taxes and file statements of foreign bank accounts; because America deems them citizens. It's complete rubbish.

One of the themes I'm toying with is writing a story where America's provincial prospective is very evident. The winners [of the conflict, whatever it is] bring a continental perspective to the table.

I have an advantage of living on the outside and looking back in - I is American abroad. Americans at home are mostly very miopic. I believe it's a weakness that needs to change if America is going to compete with the world.
