Purple: Famous Native Americans
1. Who am I, and what is my Native ancestry? Adam Beach, Saulteaux

I was born 11/11/1972 in Ashern, Manitoba, Canada.
My first love was music, and I played in a heavy-metal band, but then I became an actor, starring in such films as:

Lost in the Barrens (1990).
Squanto: A Warrior's Tale (1994). Where he played the starring role.
Smoke Signals (1998)


Orange: Tribal Customs/Lore
2. The Cherokees celebrated several harvesting festivals each year. What color did they paint their faces, and what did it represent? What game did they often play during these festivities? Faces were painted white representing happiness. Lacrosse was the game played.
The Choctaw tribe call this Stickball and National Tournaments are held in Choctaw, MS. I have a tape of a game played in 1951 at Nania Wayia Mound.I attend games on a regular basis.

Green: Native American Food
3. Different tribes have unique marriage rituals. During a Navajo wedding ceremony, what food represented the male and female, and when these two ingredients were combined, what did the couple share to represent the marriage bond?

White corn meal symbolizes the male and yellow the female. The Navajo combine the two meals into a corn mush and put it into a wedding basket before the traditional ceremony.
The Navajo bride was an equal partner to her husband. The couple would share the maize pudding during the ceremony to symbolize the marriage bond.

4. In the language of the Blackfoot (Siksika, Peigan, Piegan, Kainai, Blackfeet), how would you say:
