TEARS AND RAIN

This moment will not come again,
a bit of pleasure mixed with pain;
you hold me close, kiss the tears away
as if to end my fears this rainy day.

It is such a bittersweet goodbye,
our country needs men like you who try
to serve and protect, to do your all
for freedom's sake you heed the call.

In uniform, tall and proud you stand,
ready to go, your future planned;
and here at home I will remain
remembering the day of tears and rain.
