Doggy Heaven

Bandit, I think of the joy you brought to my heart.
Unconditional love you gave me will remain a part.
Your white face with the black circled brown eyes.
Your protruding mouth with its distinctive overbite.

I have missed you a lot my sweet devoted friend,
My heart will treasure your memories until the end,
You gave me so much throughout your long life,
For 17 years your wants were willingly sacrificed,

You grew older and did not want to play any more.
Your legs got weak and you would fall on the floor.
You could no longer follow me all over the house.
You laid on the floor resting and quiet as a mouse.

You were just a cur dog some people would say.
You were my best friend through your living days.
I know God had a special place reserved for you.
Where you will be running again and jumping too.

Every time I look at a dog I see your sweet face.
Your memories no other dog could ever replace.
Sleep my old buddy in an eternal restful sleep.
I'll join you someday in doggy heaven don't weep.
