Reaching
pushing through the night of loneliness

Darkness surrounds me,
I move through the night
walking towards a light,
a pale white light,
shining through the window,
illuminating the shadows in the darkness.

Crossing towards the window,
pale light brightens
halo of light
pushes the darkness.

My hand pressed flat,
pushes on the window,
reaching for the light
leaning forward
she smiles down at me
brightening the darkened landscape.

She hangs in the sky in silence,
shining with wonder and beauty.
Sitting in front of the window,
I watch her in awe
forgetting the darkness,
she leads me through the night.

Just her and I,
adrift in the midnight sky
wandering through the darkness
closing in on dawn’s light.

Sadness creeps in
with the dawn of morning light
I bid adieu
to my dear sweet friend
for only in darkness
can she shine.

So I wait for night,
until I see her face,
the bright light of the moon.
