Distant Moon
trials and struggles, secret nature of the moon

Clear cloudless night
showcases a marvelous night sky.
Stars shine bright,
laughter twinkling
against a dark sky.

Moon shines bright,
full face white as snow,
craters create shadows
upon her perfect face.

Hiding secret valleys
full of wonder
too great to bestow
upon such an undeserving race.

Launching rockets, missiles, and nukes
fighting each other like children
insults and name calling
injuring those who get in the way
scarring the Earth,
the very mother who gives all life,
loves all her children,
cries silently in the night
while her children fight each other.

Such hatred
that would destroy
everything they hold so dear,
fight to protect, long to hold.
All gone in a senseless feud
grown children who should know better
refuse to care, refuse to share
spawn the seeds of hatred
that will shatter everything
leaving nothing but
the distant moon
to cry alone in the dark, black night.
