Fantasy Creatures of Myth

Editor: Megan Rose Princess Megan Rose 10 Years
Assistant Editor: Angel Angel

Hello Everyone:
Welcome to the second issue of Fantasy. How is everyone? Let's take a minute to pray and remember everyone who suffered the hurricane in New Orleans and Missippi. This is a sad time for all.

I have been editing my second novel Princess Of Scruples and my husband and I have been decorating our new room.
Angel still does her beautful art work. She and Phillip love their cats. Soon, we will be enjoying autumn in Indiana and Illinois. Always a beautiful time of year.

This is the second newsletter about fantasy. . This newsleter is about creatures of the fantasy world. Where would writers be without them? They add charisma and excitement to any story in the fantasy world. All info taken from: THE WRITERS COMPLETE FANTASY REFERENCE FROM: THE EDITORS OF WRITER'S DIGEST BOOK. A MUST HAVE FOR FANTASY WRITERS!!! Let's get started!

Let's meet some interesting creatures of myth.
Banshees: We have all heard of them. They are an Irish legend and are female. They let out a strange wail when death is near. That would be scary. They have streaming red hair and red eyes from weeping. They are sad for those about to lose a loved one.

Bunytips: These creatures live in Australia. They have a crocodile tail and the rest of the body may resemble a man or bandicoot or emu. They have manes covered with weeds and have backward turned feet. Their cry can be terrifying and comes from the swamps. They like to devour people so don't go near the swamps in Australia!

Dragons: One of my favorites! They appear in myths and legends. It is described as great flying reptile with large bat-like wings, serpentine tail, sharp claws and a lot of teeth. Most breathe fire. They like to steal jewels and are hard to kill. They can be in a variety of colors and are beautiful.

Chinese dragons love water and don't fly. Some have bat wings. The Chinese dragon LUNG controls wind and the monsoon rains.
Chien-Tung commands all the dragons in China.

Fantastic Horses: These horses fly and carry heros who died in battle up to Heaven. The Norse legend have an eight legged horse. That could be interesting.

Gorgons: Stheno, Euryale and Medusa. They are believed to have wings and claws and snakes for their hair. Yikes! Angel and I will pass on that one! They turn people into stone.

The Graeae: Sisters to the Gorgons. Three gray women with one eye and one tooth which they passed back and forth. Talk about organ donaters and being true to family!

Hippocampus: They are half horse and half fish like a sea horse. Their lower body is fish. They have a great ability to travel fast in water.

Jersey Devil: This creature lives in New Jersey. A woman was pregnant with her 12th child and she didn't want it. She said it was the devil's child. The child turned out to be a devil. Another legend says the Jersey Devil was a girl cursed by gypsies who stayed in the woods. The 12th child is believed to live there, too. It has a head like a horse or ram, bat-like wings and a dragon body. It is believed that it raids chicken coops because strange creture foot prints have ben found close by.

Kraken. A sea monster so huge that it is an island! It has tentacles like an octopus. Boiling and bubbling waters let men know that it is close by. It can swallow ships and kill the men on board.

Leprechauns: They are little people in Ireland who make shoes. They wear green hats, breeches and big buckled shoes. They are said to hide pots of gold at the end of the rainbow. They are too clever and sly and outwit mankind.

Lorelei: A water spirit of Germany with a beautiful voice like the Sirens. She lored men to doom. She lives by the Rhine River.

Nemean Lion: Gigantic and mean. Swords and arrows bounced off him because of his thick and tough hide. Hercules kiiled it by strangling it.

Unicorns: The beautiful white magical horse with the horn. I love them! Their horn was believed to have magical powers and man would kill it for this. What a pity.

Werewolves: A man turns into a wolf under the light of a full moon. It is believed that the man was under a curse for a punishment of sorts. It could be killed by a silver bullet.

Vampire: A creature who is undead and looks human. Look out for it's fangs! They only come out at night and sleep in coffins by day. They bite the necks of humans for the blood they need to stay alive? Dracula and Barnabas are the most famous. Remember Dark Shadows? Garlic and crosses scare them off.

Yeti: A creatute that lives in the snow. It is ten feet tall and all white and hard to see because of the snow until you get up close to it. This creature lives in Tibet and is also called the Abominable Snowman.

Angel and I hope that you have enjoyed this newsletter. Next month's newsletter will be about Halloween and the Christmas Newsletters will be next. If you have any stories, e-mail Angel or my self. They promise to be fun issues. Later. Love: Megan and Angel
