Two Views of America
This was an assignment for English that I had some fun with. One is light, one is dark.

Part 1: You’ll Find Me There

Somewhere out there
A place just for me
Somewhere out there
A place you can’t see
Somewhere out there over the vast blue sea
Is a place of freedom; freedom and peace

Somewhere out there
A land just for you
Somewhere out there
A land Grandpa never knew
Somewhere out there many miles from view
Is a land of calling; calling out to me and you

Somewhere out there
That perfect place resides
Somewhere out there
That perfect place lies
Somewhere out there is the place I hope to die
That perfect place
You’ll find me there
Someday, somewhere out there

Part 2: D.E.A.D. Star

I used to look up to you
You were my hero; my shining star
I wished I could see you when from you, I was far
Now you’re just a dead star

This devil eats all demons
Satan wants you, too
No need to prepare for His arrival
Hell is already here

I used to think you were great
You were my golden medal; my everything
I wished I could soar to you on angel’s wings
Now all my feelings don’t mean a thing

This devil eats all demons
He devours those who believed in Him
Those who put their faith in Him
Were summarily crushed under His might

Now I wish I could get away from you, dead star
You are my misery; my pain
I cry out “Why?” in the pouring rain
My hopes and dreams drowning in vain
