** #1017404 Not An Image ** A VETERANS MEMORIES (A true story told in rhyme) Some thought he was just a bum, in the small town of his home. His hands were often dirty and hair he’d seldom comb. Smell of liquor on his breath- it was always there for sure but he never seemed too drunk to help the needy with a chore. He ate at the Soup Kitchen on the Thursday of each week and he’d take food to others, if they were sick, or just meek. The Soup Kitchen where he ate was run by the Baptist Church. The Pastor was a good man and wished for the truth to search. One day he asked of Robert why he must drink everyday, then he intently listened, as he heard Robert say… I was a Fighter Pilot, that’s the reason I drink. I caused the death of so many. Liquor helps me not to think. Monty ABCB blank verse.
