Matthew 13:31--An Ironic Faith

All poetry is found.
Most poetry is lost.
We approach the world well-armored
and too late guess
it's the chinks that let in light.

All translators are traitors.
Most speech is cheap and weak.
We approach the Divine
with stillness of mind.
Too frequently it is fear
pushing us forward to trust.

All gods have honor.
Most religion is true.
We approach faith
by long-legged leaps.
If lucky, we gauge the depth
of the chasm,
and divine how wide
is our safety net.
