ALL HALLOW'S EVE
Reclaiming Halloween/Samhain--it's good for our souls. An acrostic poem.

ALL HALLOW'S EVE

Ancient echoes of traditions past
Lingering litanies from circles cast
Long ago now drifting down on modern paths.

Halloween needs rescuing.
Anarchic attempts at banishment have
Left Earth's children chocolate prowling,
Laying waste circumsolar energies.
Our grandmothers could navigate by stars.
We all need more Halloween.
Samhain grows from primal seeds.

Everything rises, falls, returns, sleeps.
Vassals still, are we here,
Entrained to the rhythm of the Wheel-of-the-Year.

Note: Samhain (sow-ween} is the Celtic/Wiccan/Pagan word for Halloween.
