“OUCH!”

“What the…?

“Hey! Watch how you throw them shoes under here!”

“What? Who’s under my bed?”

“Well, umm, nobody.”

“Nobody! You gotta be somebody, you are answering me after all.”

“Okay, okay! I’m your imagination!”

“Oh, this I gotta see! Wait a minute! You look like me! Except you look like me when I was fifteen.”

“Of course! When you were fifteen was the last time you used me, Ronnie.”

“I was starting high school then. I had to work harder with my school work.”

“You were lucky I stayed around that long. I should have left after you found out there wasn’t a Santa Claus or Easter Bunny.”

“I’m sorry, but I outgrew you.”

“Oh, you did more than outgrow me. You became stagnant. I had hoped you would have taken a class where you could have used me more. But that didn’t happen. You went the sports route.”

“I loved playing sports. I did make team captain of the football team in my senior year.”

“Yes you did, and that didn’t last very long because you didn’t use me when you needed some unique plays to make that touchdown that would have won the homecoming game.”

“Ahh, you’re right. That was the worse game I ever played and it did cost me my position as team captain. Why are you still hanging around under my bed though?”

“Ronnie, I just knew there would be a time when you would need me again. I couldn‘t give up on you completely. You have a promising quality that not many can hold a candle to.”

“I do? Like what?”

“Think about it. Remember how much fun you had when you were out playing with your friends and you were usually the one to come up with the activities you played?”

“Umm, yeah.”

“You worked me overtime back then. I loved it! Some of the things we came up with were amazing!”

“I do remember how much fun I had back then. But what has that got to do with now?”

“Well, I know you have a thing for that pretty lady in the accounting department of your insurance firm.”

“Becky? Well, yeah, I’ve been dating her for over a year now. I’m really quite in love with her.”

“Yes, and I just know you want to ask her to marry you, right?”

“More than you’ll ever know.”

“Oh, but I do know! And your company is having a Halloween Party, right? What is Becky going as?”

“I believe she said she was going as a princess.”

“Great! Now all you need is some armor, a white horse and an engagement ring!”

“I like how you think, Imagination. I’m really glad you didn’t abandon me completely.”

“Ronnie, when it comes to Love, your imagination will never die.”

“You’re so very right, and I won’t let it if Becky says yes.”

“I imagine she will say yes.”
