WHY WOULD WOMEN WEEP?

Written especially for Lynn Hicks "Alphabet Fun" Contest using the letter "W" to start each line!

WHY WOULD WOMEN WEEP?

Why do the tears of anguish spill
When love turns out all wrong?
Why do women weep at hearing country
Western music or a sad love song?

Whispers in the soft moonlight
Winds softly moan as if to say
Whether it was right or wrong
We make our bed, and now must lay.

Wishing doesn't make it so and
Winning is always just a chance;
What we see and what we get is a
Withering backwards glance.

Wanting shows in their eyes and
Which way should they go?
Waterfalls and wishing wells
Will end the game, you know.

We take our chances on romance,
Worn out and lacking trust -
With these thoughts in mind, I
Will turn this hope to dust!
