Why Did They Hurt Me?

Why did they want to hurt me?
I ask myself this everyday,
When all I expressed was normalcy,
love, friendship and no hate.

I never hurt any,
but I was never greeted
with a real smile.
All I ever got, was
mockings and ugly frowns.

They took away my right to choose
the pleasant things in life.
In their own cruel way, they said,
"All there is for you,
is fakes, greed, and strife."

"Those are your three choices."
"Now what do you think about that"?
"I think it's grand," they said
"you little old bat."

I don't know how they did it,
but they took away a precious right:
to see the "flower of my girl,"
now, you know that's wasn't right.

They took away my right
to see the virtues of my youth.
They said, "All that there is for you
is us, our way, and we choose."

Why did they want to hurt me?
Everyday I try to understand,
what made these people so cruel,
about what was humane
for every woman and man.

They said, "All that there is for you
is your last testament and will.
Write it, sign it,
now you're welcome to
have and cherish old man Bill."

They said, "We have the right to
fu.. with you any
second, day or hour."
"Hold down the fort boys and girls
while I go and shower."

"I've got to go and change into
another's monkey's suit,
but she'll never know the different
our sweet little fool."

Monkey see monkey do
was the standard of the day.
They lived by it, and relished in it
and it's still honored to this day!

Why did they try to hurt me?
Didn't they understand, that
one day I would see all of this,
and stand up and take a stand.

"I stand up for my beliefs
of right and truth alone."
"I will never compromise those beliefs
to satisfy your evil and tormented souls."

"I never went alone with you,
and all of your God forsaken ways."
"It seems to me, that you should have known this,
and stopped your foolish games."

"I don't hate you at all;
because God wouldn't approve of that,
but the Bible is very clear when it says
-We all must reap what we sow-
now what do you think of that"?
