Words That Nearly Destroyed Me
Words spoken out of context, can destroy. One would not expect that in church.

Words That Nearly Destroyed Me

I walked into church and I took a seat
I sang the hymns, listened to the prayer
I lifted my eyes as the minister spoke
Then I looked around and started to cry

Get a grip on myself I silently prayed
It doesn’t matter what an other says
Oh but it does my inner mind cried
Once again my eyes filled with tears

I can't sit here and listen anymore
I got up and started toward the door
If you want forgiveness brethren
Then you must be a forgiver

Those word rang through my ear
I heard the minister very clear
I knew God was speaking to me
My eyes opened and I could see

That I had nearly spiritually died
Because of what one had to say
But I can't cast an accusing stone
For I too stand guilty, she's not alone
