The sledgehammer comes down hard
Whack Chunks of brick ricochet Sharp pieces pierce my flesh. Embedding deep into muscle, Scraping my bone. Ignoring the pain, I continue Whack Clouds of dust invade my nostrils Settling in the depths of my lungs Smothering my breath. Sometimes, destruction is necessary Whack Stumbling on the rubble Balancing my footing on unstable debris I wonder, “Can I rebuild?”
