Ode to my best friend (an amalgam)
I love the way your mouth is open a crack When you put on your eyeliner I love the way you pack Neatly folding every item before putting it inside the suit case I love the way your heels go up When you walk down the hall I love the way you go S’up? When you plop down in front of me I love how you take bites of your bite Instead of shoving the whole thing inside your mouth I love how you have spectacular sight Seeing inside me to know what’s wrong I love the way you make a sad face And then you give me a hug I love the way that I know my place When I’m sitting next to you I know that I can love you Without being - romantic? I love little things you do Like biting your pinky nail I love that when I’m happy I make you happy I love that when I’m sad You make me happy I love the way you laugh When I do something stupid Yet I don’t feel dumb Because it’s not a patronizing laugh I love that when you’re nervous You clickety click your pen cap I love that after you climb a tree Your hands are sticky with sap I love that when you run down a hallway You look to see, I’m still there I love that during class you fidget Squirming in your chair I love that when you call You say, hey it’s me I love that when I point out the obvious You say, “Yes I see” I love that when you laugh your mouth opens wide I love that when we argue we're on the same side I love that when you skip your hair bounces up and down I love how your eyebrows meet when and if you frown I love that when I'm crying you can cry with me I love that you're my friend Because with out you I'd be lost, you see?
