From the darkness comes light
A somewhat sad poem, judge for yourself

He came into my life
Like a light shining so bright
He made each day for me
Better than the one before

All those who met him
Adored his beauty as did I
They watched me gush with pride
And smiled at my girlish joy

The other man in my life
Found him hard to accept
How he dominated my time
And made me reject all else

As the months passed by
I became obsessed
With him, my only love
And I could not let him be

Then he seemed to be fading
With each passing hour
This man of mine
His life slipping away

My child was leaving me
The light he had provided
Was no longer there
The darkness came back

Finally he left me
One cold rainy day
His life slipped away
Before my very eyes

Now there is only darkness
In my tear filled existence
I was a mother
Now I’m only a wife

I will join him soon
My beautiful son
For from the darkness
There must follow light
