The Last Few Moments Of Man
A muse on what would happen if we faced total destruction

The Last Few Moments Of Man

There was a football game in play.
The crowd stood and roared.
Another touchdown made today
while the missiles soared.

From expressways to restaurants
and workers in the sun.
Those at the shops and monuments
to those just having fun.

They say it's quiet before a storm.
They had no clue at all.
A madness steeped in it's purest form
from bluest skies would fall.

The last few moments of man at hand
from an enemy so small.
Death dealt from a far away land
Humanity's last call

Everyone thought the threat was gone,
believed we were safe for now.
Together we would always be strong,
survive it all, somehow.

Will it be by nuclear holocaust
or in the air we breathe?
Turned into radioactive dust
or die from airborne disease?

Here's to the last thing man will see
to his last thoughts and dreams.
Maybe we'll finally be forever free
and nothing's ever what it seems.
