The Best Thing I Never Had
A song about losing something I never had. I had A bluesy, R&B sound in mind.

The Best Thing I Never Had

It's time now to be honest,
I've been thinking about you.
Strange how things come upon us,
Right out of the blue.

I remember how we used to talk...and
It was me that messed that up.
Now my mind is on a mental walk...and
Wish I wouldn't have messed things up.

I don't want to lead you on, no,
But my heart's a bit confused.
Because I don't know where this could go,
Yet, I don't want to lose,

The best thing I never had.

I never took the time to see,
That you're a diamond in the rough.
And though you've always shined to me,
I was swamped with other stuff.

I'm afraid that this just couldn't work,
I mean, we're from two different worlds.
But I must confess I'm tempted and,
Wishing that you were my girl.

I know this isn't making sense,
Don't know if I should jump the fence.

Open up and take a chance.
Will this lead us to romance?
Would our hearts jump at a glance?
With eyes locked would stars dance?

And my hearts is still confused.
Because I'm feeling scared to lose,
The best thing I never had.

I don't know If I should say,
If I should tell you how I feel.
Would things be best this way?
Lady is this even real?

Your friendship means so much to me,
Maybe it's best if I let this be.

Because I just don't wanna lose,
The best thing I never had.

No girl, I don't wanna lose,
The best thing I never had.
