APPLE PIE
I do not want to close my eyes, I’d thought with a sigh. Afraid to slip into slumber land, Without a piece of apple pie. When everyone was sleeping, Tucked safely away in bed, I tip-toed down the hallway, To the kitchen, quietly tread. Got myself a glass of milk, Left the fridge open just a bit, So I could see, to slice that pie, And find a place to sit. Suddenly the lights came on, My wife said, “shame on you, Sitting alone here in the dark, Cut me a big slice too”. Monty
