Before the Night
Delirium, dreams and words. Revised.

Will you find me a place where I can dream
And lose myself in vision?
I am lost
Already - take me deeper:
The maze matures;
It is a vortex now,
Black hole of fury -
Yet gravity is earthly - I arise.
Strange, that I should wait
For you, so strange,
More vivid are my dreams than is dull life -
Yet you are faded.
I cannot see my future in my dreams,
It is a blank.
Perhaps you, clairvoyant, can make
Headway through the fog.
It cannot obscure the spiral
That is me.

What will I dream?
Dream in dream of livid colour,
Orange, sick.
And always words, my illness,
Dreaming words, emotion stifled
With vain communication.
What use are words
At the end of the long night?
Only dreams, the illusion
That we toy with -
Our presumption.
Ah, insolence of forced sight,
Make me despair!
But still I dream,
And dream in dreams,
And, heartsick, lose my words.
