YEAH BUT NO

The children have my future planned
and I'm sure they do mean well;
they think that I should sell the house
I've live in for quite a spell.

They feel that since I'm older
I shouldn't try to drive my car.
True it needs a lot of work,
but still it takes me quite far.

Being alone isn't any fun,
on that they all agree -
However, one thing they forgot
was shouldn't they ask ME?

Yeah but no, I'll stay right here
and count the days until Spring;
I've got memories in these walls
and I don't want to move a thing.

These tired old bones still have life
that get me up at the crack of dawn;
so I'll just listen and nod my head
and let them all carry on!

I may be stubborn, that's a fact!
It's got me through life so far.
I'll just bloom where I'm planted;
I LIKE THINGS AS THEY ARE!
